For physicians and nurses, burn out is linked to 200 percent increased odds of suicidal ideation. This has led to the misconception that burnout is a mental health disorder that needs resilience training, toughness and more Counselling at the workplace. The reality is that the suicidal ideation from burnout and the whole spectrum of burnout is a result of workplace illnesses. Workplace illness is an organization dysfunction that must be cured by work design. This is the reason health systems must go back to the drawing board and redesign work for health workers if we want to improve health outcomes, patient experience and reduce costs. Health workforce wellbeing is the key to all else in healthcare.

Today on the House floor, we’ll be voting on HB 1202 to allow teachers to carry guns in schools. Is this really the direction we want to go as a state— more guns in schools? This is an irresponsible response to school shootings and will not keep students safe. This is madness.

When you stain your tongue with slander, backbiting and gossip, your spirituality goes down significantly. You may think you’re harming the other person but in actual fact, you’re harming yourself. So learn to hold your tongue because it has the power to make you or break you.

Never stop believing that good things can still happen even in times of chaos. That’s how merciful the Almighty is; He can give when you least expect it. He can open doors you never ever knocked and the list is endless. Always think good thoughts of Him.

Fitness lifestyle has gotten me out the darkest times in my life. When combined with other tools it’s a lifesaver for a medic with a hectic work schedule and toxic work environment. If it’s one thing you can invest in: fitness for mental health, the physical benefits are a plus💪🏾
