@ImmaculateView this is why I suggested a 36/48 school breakaway followed by a G? playoff system. Even in the SEC, quality programs cannot compete financially. Part of it is dumb luck sitting in the middle of oil billionaires or long standing patent mills. Hard to compete when some schools have athletic endowments bigger than other schools entire reserves by multiples.

Kentucky ranked near the bottom of the SEC in athletic donations. Texas football received more money than the entire UK athletic department. on3.com/teams/kentucky…

IMHO, the only way an additional playoff level even works is if the top level is limited to no more than 48 teams (I'd like to see 36). I know this will exclude teams already in the P2/4, but that's what would give the second tier the brand power needed to compete for eyeballs. Then it becomes a class issue between those that have no limits and those with limited resources. Frankly, I'm all for the latter if marginal brands don't get pulled up for cannon fodder.

Right now, your entire conference has a 1% stake in the CFP and that's the percentage of revenue payout that you get. You get that because 1 or 2 G teams get into the playoff in a year so you dont provide that much to it. On top of that, the CFP can look at Notre Dame last year and see how much more they would have made for the whole if they were there instead of one of the two G's. On the other hand, if the G's take part in a second tournament that the CFP puts on then you are bringing a lot more to the table for the whole and have a solid argument that your ownership stakes should rise. So the CFP as a whole makes more which means a higher payout goes to your conference and then your school. Also, instead of just 1 to 2 teams getting visibility you may have upwards of 12-14 teams having visibility. So not just do you get more money but you have much better chances to actually retain athletes that might have offers to go elsewhere. As it stands now, A4 programs dont even need to offer more to get a player to come over because the visibility and opportunity to be seen is so bad at the G level. So this would help to fix both the money issue and the visibility issue.

@TheWildUte I would not discount Charlotte or even AppState. While Charlotte is not the name brand, they provide easy travel into a large market where the ACC happens to be headquartered. AppState and ECU have the same problems - smallish location with difficult travel.

@JWMediaDC IMHO, a great example of potential is in Raleigh with NC State Carter-Finley stadium land next to the Lenovo and Tom Dundun's entertainment district.

One thing I didn't see addressed is how universities can use their facilities for non-athletic events for revenue. Not all schools can do this because of landlocked stadiums/arenas. Expecting to see more stadium concerts and banana ball. Could we see a Carolina North replacement for Kenan?

@MrKCincy There may have been talk about that too. This was a bit tongue in cheek due to every school in the PAC having State in their name thus its been termed the "All State" Conference.

@ImmaculateView I do think people keep forgetting the details of the current ACCN/ACCN+ contract. It was build to create/satisfy personalized online content. This was setup for a you get what you kill in online content model. So many opportunities, just need to do some winning.

Trump is such an excellent bullshitter that eveyone seemed genuinely surprised at how high inflation numbers were today. When gas prices go up to the degree they did, inflation like this is inevitable. It's basic economics. Yet, people believed Trump that prices wouldn't go up.

There is a difference between cultural Catholics and "traditional" Catholics. Yes, cultural Catholicism is failing. This impacts the trappings of christenings, marriages, confirmations, etc. embedded as cultural milestones. However, the growth is in "traditional" Catholicism. This doesn't mean TLM, but reverence and discipline. These are the super soldiers in the pro-life movement. These are the Catholics having large families. These are where traditional male/female roles are celebrated. This is where the revival is occurring. One must not treat American Catholics as a monolithic community or we may be forced to do the same for non-Catholic Christians. Those numbers look worse.

@murphsturph I know people keep trying to compare this to Centennial Campus for NC State, but that almost 2 miles is huge. Main and Centennial Campuses are congruent.

As UNC hires design firms for Carolina North, basketball arena decision remains on pause, Newmark says. "Carolina North is going forward. There’s some incredible plans out there, and that’s university based. But, for right now, the arena discussion really has been put on hold." wral.com/news/local/unc…

I think Georgia tech strategically would be a better fit for the @bigten they could plant a flag right in the middle of SEC country. But for some reason UNC is the darling of both the SEC and the Big Ten.

Is fine program as East Carolina is for reasons that I absolutely have no idea why I have not heard their name brought up in any conversations about the ACC or the Big 12. That said just because I didn't hear it doesn't mean they're not being considered. Hopefully for your sake they are

@ImmaculateView @murphsturph I'll another log to this simmering fire. Tom Dundun's work on Lenovo Center doesn't impact the CF property. While attached and built out in concert, the CF property is distinct and wholly owned by NC State.
