Serious question for all Catholics. I want to understand this. It is in my estimation that we should be able to wear whatever we want to mass. Men should be able to wear cut offs, hats, flip flops, bathing suits, etc. Women can wear yoga pants, booty shorts, sports bras, tank tops, etc. If you don't think we should allow that, why? Do you think Christ would care that Clarissa shows up in booty shorts and a tank top? Heck we're just glad she's there for Christ. This is all acceptable attire in normal public. So why not mass? So if this is the case, then why should we care about modesty? Christ doesn't. If he did we'd make sure there is an enforced dress code. Why is modesty such a big thing in Catholicism? Christ meets us where we are. Does a place of worship need outward reverence, or just spiritual and internal reverence? I want a full logical layout of anyones argument as to why this photo should not be the norm in every mass. If you disagree with that premise then I expect a good logical argument that holds up against critique. But it seems to me based on all of the comments to Rachel's post that most Catholics agree you can dress this way for mass on any given sunday.

@honorablesaint Sister Faustina, when she was a kid, being from a very poor family, didn't go to Mass on Sundays if she did not have a proper modest dress to wear.

Especialmente, destacam sua manifestação sobre as mulheres no contexto da religião católica. São claramente equivocadas e estão em divergência com o que prega a Igreja de Roma em todas as suas áreas. Aquelas opiniões do Frei Gilson seguem uma visão de alguns evangélicos que colocam a mulher em posição subalterna, quase como escrava, em relação aos homens. No entanto, esses são vídeos antigos do frei. Quem assiste hoje aos seus programas na Rede Vida ou às suas pregações em lives vê, com clareza, que essa postura foi retificada. No programa de TV, o frei tem sempre um religioso muito preparado, que apresenta a real posição da Igreja sobre a mulher. O Frei Gilson, carmelita, tem formação mais básica; por essa razão, não surpreendem seus erros. Para a Igreja Católica, em seu magistério, a mulher tem papel de relevância e não é subordinada ao homem. Basta ver a centralidade de Maria no mistério de Cristo, não havendo margem para não reconhecer sua importância. O frei errou, mas são vídeos antigos. Já refletiu e retificou sua pregação. Mesmo seu envolvimento na política foi secundário, causado pelo radicalismo eleitoral da época. É hora de entendermos o caminho do frei, seus erros e suas correções. Não é o que ocorre com o Padre José Eduardo, de Osasco. Este tem sólida formação religiosa e é bolsonarista raiz. Esteve perto das tramas do golpe fracassado de 2022, com posição de destaque, em Brasília. Parece não ter sido denunciado pelo Ministério Público Federal porque isso deixaria a CNBB em situação desconfortável, com um membro do clero condenado. Foi um alívio para a CNBB o fato de ele não ter sido denunciado. Esse padre era hostil ao Papa Francisco até a Polícia Federal bater à sua porta. A partir daí, passou a fazer elogios ao Papa, surpreendendo muita gente. Conseguiu se livrar de uma possível denúncia, para alívio da CNBB. Não vamos confundir os campos: Frei Gilson é um frade que cometeu erros e os corrigiu; Padre José Eduardo mudou por aparências, dada sua situação muito ruim. Não são a mesma coisa.
