NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The government says it can't ban BAM from future state contracts because of EU tendering laws. So BAM and similar rip-off merchants have no incentive to deliver properly. The govt should tell the EU to get stuffed and tell BAM it's barred.

In 1987 Ray Bourke, the corrupt Fianna Fáil minister sold out the entire nation of Irish people. He gave away all our natural resources. The net effect is that big oil companies: • Owns 100% of the oil and gas they find under Irish waters; • pay no royalties to the Irish State; • can write off 100% of their costs to tax; • profits taxed at 25% (international average is 68% ); • can export it outside Ireland; • can choose whether or not to sell the gas back to Bord Gáis at full market rates. It is unfortunate for the Journal that it is now being referred to as the "Urinal"; an unsavoury title that is even more degrading and embarrassing than that given to their friends, "The Irish Slimes".
Perhaps if they apologise and publish a corrective and repentant article, they may have some semblance of a future. It would be a small start.

Leo Varadkar is the epitome of all that is wrong with Irish politics. He rose to the top of Fine Gael by ingratiating himself with the Fine Gael grassroots in rural Ireland that he now disparages.
He is embodying the arrogance and lack of care that this FF/FG government showed towards farmers, hauliers and small contractors during the fuel protests.
He now decries the tax incentives given to farmers which he once championed as a benefit of EU membership.
In reality the EU regulations are crippling rural Ireland and FF/FG are letting it happen.
Varadkar is a shameless hypocrite, who has displayed exactly what his former colleagues think of you.
