@PUNC14Julie Government still limits places to study medicine, unlike nursing, which preserves cohort sizes to ‘sensible’ for placement capacity. Not limiting nursing places IMHO has made compromised quality.

@nela_lana @DrLindaDykes The nurse ratio bit is essential to recognise. Procedures that would normally only require 1 nurse may need two or more and take longer.

@DrLindaDykes Correct but it’s not just about the training but the whole approach from clinical knowledge, creating user friendly governance for elderly, designing elderly friendly ED, improving nursing ratio, access to MDT endless list

Every day I am more and more convinced that there is a need for Elderly Care Emergency Medicine as a sub specialty (like paediatric) for better guideline and governance design. Is anybody else with me on this ?

@nela_lana 100% This group require more time, more equipment, different care and specialist knowledge. We have provision for children in the ED who also require more time, more equipment, different care and specialist knowledge.

Chocolates from a retired GP who is grateful for my wound care knowledge and skills is a nice thing. Can I put the (empty) box in my revalidation file?

@helen_barnowl @WelshGasDoc I think it is assumed so but it will be interesting to hear from IP&C what infection rates changed and why this might be. During my own hospital stay of 5 days I did not see anyone decontaminate their hands before or after contact with me or anyone else in the 6 bedded bay.

#TriviaTuesday You are first on scene at a severe incident. You are faced with 3 people needing triage treatment. Using your knowledge of the citizenAID app, in what order do you treat the injured people, and what do you do for each person?

Hello I’m a nurse educator. You may know me from my hits such as “Yes nurses do need a degree” and “ No it’s not enough to be really really caring” or the chart topper “So how exactly can education make you less caring then? “

@Meggweenie @Cahill_Lou Not only about hierarchy. Can be about clarity of experience, responsibility and role. Plus the public are confused. We need to have a smart and professional look as we are judged before we even open our mouths. first impressions last.
