BREAKING: Israeli government passed a law approving the execution of Palestinian prisoners, with no age minimum, no chance of pardon or sentence reduction. It will be implemented in 90 days. They will now hang children for insulting Israel. May Allah stop them. Repost this.

For those following at home, the capture and removal of a foreign head of state is presumed unlawful unless sanctioned by the UN Security Council, or - under strict conditions - if the aggressor state (the US) can claim self-defence. #Venezuela

This is an easy rebuttal. Just remove all of the taxpayers subsidies from these utilities for 'net zero' programmes and you will see the CFO's pounding the desk at their BOD meetings stating that we are headed for bankruptcy. Beggars belief that the pro net zero group believe that to resolve the CO2 issue one needs to just tax more and increase taxpayers subsidies!

More than a dozen major electricity suppliers, including AGL, Origin Energy and EnergyAustralia, rejected calls to ditch net zero and insisted that shifting to a mostly renewable grid was the best way to keep bills as low as possible. Psst!! LNP ⬆️ theage.com.au/business/the-e…

@Coaching2023 @JaneCaro When I was younger there was this hole in the ozone layer that let in a heap of UV light - more than normal. Most nations clubbed together and banned cfc gasses and found an alternative. It can be done.

@Harold36089778 @aaronsmith Why do you think your duck curve is shaped that way. Anything to do with daylight hours. All that energy from the sun means we don't need to burn as much coal during the day. Only enough to keep the generators ticking over and warm.

@aaronsmith The issue is it’s not available in large quanta when our demand is at peak It costs enormous amounts of money to build the infrastructure to “shift electricity through time” via storage I’m agnostic, if REs truly were cheap I’d be happy I care about the tax cuts I won’t get😂

Melbourne’s electricity prices are ridiculously cheap today because renewables are flooding the grid. And the Liberals are voting against Net Zero, on the same day. You couldn’t script the stupidity, or irony.

Net zero creates cheaper energy, new tech, now jobs Those against net zero want you to pay the high price for energy you are currently paying In Australia, we generate our own gas, but pay European prices because the capitalist market say so. You are being rorted like fools

Let’s do the maths on a full net zero system Australia requires at peak 835GWhr of electricity on a given 24hr period of high demand. Typically during peak winter or summer where air con and heating is required. Let’s take out Australia’s hydo capacity of 2650MW at its average capacity factor of 0.28 (low can be anything between 1.2-9%) so the total we need is 835-(2.65x0.28x24)=817.2GW Winter is the limiting case with only 6full hours of sunlight in the southern capital cities. (Syd, per, melb, adl). During an overcast day solar is limited to 25% (can be as low as 10%) output. Consider an overcast windless day. These happen every winter, the scenario must be accounted for. 817GWhr means 34GWhr is required on average. But over 6 hours of useful sunlight at 25% capacity we then need a 545GWhr system. At the current 1.6mil per MW cost, we get a 872 billion dollar cost. For the other 18hours we require 613GWhr of storage. A Tesla megapack costs 1.5mil by itself or 3mil installed. For 3.9MWhr of storage. So installed we need 471 billion dollars worth. Total system cost is 1.343 Trillion. Without grid interconnects or stabilisation measures to stop what happened in Spain/Portugal. Batteries and solar panels are warranted for 15 &. 25 years respectively. Let’s assume a 30year life. That means on average each year we need to spend $44.7billion replacing old batteries and solar panels. Nuclear plant size only needs to be determined by peak draw. About 44GW. Based on the UAE plant, which cost 25-32billion USD (estimated) for 5.6GW. Aus would need 8 to power the country. Cost - 256bil USD or 400bil AUD max using the high figure. Cost to run is 820mil-1.4billion per year per plant, 11.2billion per year max. Assuming 30 year paydown (3.3%) on renewables 5% loan and 5% profit we end up with a 178.6 billion per year cost. Every 30 years we start again.this does not include maintenance and operating costs. The same for nuclear - cost of financing is 53.3billion but we know the 11.2 billion operating costs. Total is 64.5billion. So nuclear will cost at least 100billion less per year.

@CorriganBr36365 @AshPolitik Mmmm AGL said. Where do they get the bulk of their money again? Fossil fuel perhaps? If coal is such a good deal, why aren't they rushing in and building new coal fired owner stations. Perhaps it is because they are so much more expensive to build, run and fuel.

This is why the fossil fuel lobby & the Nats hate renewables. They can’t make as much money out of it while consumers can & are saving heaps.

Concerning reports the unreleased National Climate Risk Assessment is “dire” and “diabolical”. It maps what the people & places we love stand to lose from climate change. We should know this before the govt sets our 2035 emissions target Release it now. afr.com/policy/energy-…

@DavidPocock The IPCC risk assessment does give us something to think about. I have noticed the comments regarding how "alarmist" it is. I read the Insurance Council of Australia reply to it. For all the climate change sceptics, please read it too. The Insurance Council are also alarmed.
