Under Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby @USWPColby had a substantive, respectful, and professional meeting with Cardinal Pierre, the then-Papal Nuncio, and his team on January 22, 2026. During the cordial meeting, they discussed a range of topics, including issues of morality in foreign policy, the logic of the U.S. National Security Strategy, Europe, Africa, Latin America, and other topics. Cardinal Pierre expressed his appreciation for the outreach and both sides looked forward to continued open and respectful dialogue. In light of grossly false and distorted recent reporting, the Department of War repeats its statement: Recent reporting of the meeting is highly exaggerated and distorted. The meeting between Pentagon and Vatican officials was a respectful and reasonable discussion. We have nothing but the highest regard and welcome continued dialogue with the Holy See.

Just got off a FaceTime w/ my daughter. She just had to call us (even though we see her daily) to tell us how full of joy she is to receive the Eucharist tonight. I remember 2 years ago at Mass asking Our Lady for a signal grace concerning my kids, and literally coming out she texted me and said she and her husband wanted to try coming to Mass. Tonight they (and my daughter in law- more about her later) are coming in. I can’t wait to share more about all this when the time is right, but for now, thank you for all the prayers.

But why did Barron have to break up his diocese's Holy Week by flying down to DC to worship Donald Trump?

Nearly a year ago, I pointed out that this was a problem.
Now, during Holy Week, Bishop Barron flew to DC to applaud a speech in which Donald Trump was compared to the crucified and resurrected Jesus Christ. I think we've gone well past the point of plausible deniability.

I am a new Catholic but I am deeply concerned about Bishop Barron. Paula White in an unabashed heretic.
He remained silent when His Eminence was refused from the Holy Sepulchre but penned a Twitter novel lambasting Carrie PreJean over her theologically-sound views regarding Zionism. Today, the Bishop promotes Ben Shapiro as his friend— Ben, to his credit, has always been honest about his views that Christ was a criminal who is burning in feces in hell. I will remind you he also once told Ben that he could be saved, before backtracking.
I ask you sincerely, what is the proper recourse for this within the church?
