Antipopes should always have the opposite name to the reigning pope at the time; so Urban/Rural Clement/Inclement Paul/Peter Innocent/Guilty Pius/Impius Benedict/Maledict Francis/Dominic ... and so on

We learn more from reading on paper than on screens. 54 studies, 171k people: we process print more deeply than digital content—as long as it's informational rather than purely narrative. The paper advantage holds across ages and has grown over time. Long live physical books.

I’m very sorry but Noreen has unfortunately died from the side effects of constantly keeping a nice expression on her face while people say stupid things

The #LastBattleOnEnglishSoil didn't end with the surrender of the Jacobite troops on Preston market place at 7am on 14 November 1715. The Government troops were allowed to plunder the town, stealing 'moneys, plate, goods and chatles ... contrary to the laws of this nation'.

@ITimbrell I have just been talking to my son about this - he's in Y6 in Bristol and regularly hears it as an insult, and we have been talking about the importance of challenging it and involving teachers. Thanks for taking this on.

We are seeing huge increase in ‘That’s So Gay’ used as an insult, especially in primary schools. I’m in a primary school in Cardiff today working with all of KS2 to develop understanding of what gay means, through the lens of family, to raise empathy & stop its use as an insult.

@cathyhume The ones I mention in the piece + various other ordinary non-extreme Americans - a driver, guy at a Greyhound stop, young guy I met in Levittown PA fixing his mom's car, shy young woman who'd just been to a Trump rally, white, black, Hispanic, younger, older. More on this soon.

I just spent a week in Pennsylvania, and found myself telling friends Trump might edge it there. Seeing loads of Trump signs where I didn't expect them, and talking to people I wrongly guessed would vote Harris, made me begin to think what happened last night might happen.
The New Statesman@NewStatesman

"But what surprised me most was that even some of those seriously concerned about a Trump presidency won’t necessarily vote against him." @phil_tinline reports from Pennsylvania newstatesman.com/us-election-20…
