Governor McMaster made a deeply meaningful choice in appointing Darline Graham Nordone to continue Senator Lindsey Graham's service.
When they lost their parents, Lindsey was still a young man, but he stepped up and raised Darline as if she were his own daughter. He spent his life taking care of her when she needed him most. There is something profoundly symbolic about the fact that she now has the opportunity to help take care of his legacy. I know there could be no greater honor for the brother who loved her so dearly.
As Darline takes on this responsibility, Jennifer and I continue to grieve with her and the entire Graham family, and we are praying for them in the difficult days ahead. We congratulate Darline and know she will honor Lindsey's extraordinary legacy of service to South Carolina.

Nikki Haley running against Donald Trump isn’t an indictment of her character. She engaged in the democratic process, she lost, she dropped out. That is how America works. She is one of our strongest players sitting on the bench and she would be a fantastic replacement to fill the very big shoes left by Lindsay Graham.

Justin one day when you grow old you’ll realize holding a grudge because @NikkiHaley fired you 17 years ago is not healthy. It’s pathetic actually. Maybe if you focused less on her you wouldn’t be responsible for the worst ran gubernatorial race of all time. Your candidate was second in command for 10 years, had a lot of money, and had the most powerful endorsement this country has ever seen and you still managed to lose by 30. 17 years later, you continue to prove that she made the right decision.

Disagree with @NikkiHaley on policy. Disagree with her on national security, foreign affairs, or economics.
But stop pretending she's anything other than a Strong Conservative, America First Patriot, and one of the most Principled People in Modern Politics - Despite not even being in Politics anymore by her own choice.

Yeah, that was what I figured would happen.
The question was never "could she win" but rather "is she even interested in running."
Still, anyone discounting Haley as a "has been" with "no shot in the modern GOP" is, imo, crazy.
The only thing holding her back at this point, frankly, is lack of interest.

“Getting a million calls, most candidates floating their names (other than Nancy and Joe) are saying they’ll only run if Pam doesn’t
Functionally starts the race with a floor of 30%, which in a 3 week race is a more important advantage than anything
She’s the front runner if she wants it but tbd if she wants it.”

Lindsey loved South Carolina deeply. There was never a day he stopped fighting for the people of our state.
Through his military service and years in public office, he gave his all to protect America and our freedom-loving allies.
He was truly one of a kind.

Senator Graham cared deeply about South Carolina and the American people. His lifelong commitment to service, his unwavering dedication to protecting our values, and his love for this country will be remembered and felt for generations.
He had a great sense of humor, always having a quick-witted joke and earning the respect of leaders around the world, never forgetting his roots in Central, South Carolina.
Rest easy, Senator. There are simply not enough words to Thank You for all you have done. Your legacy of service will always be remembered and you will not be forgotten.

Wesley and I are shocked and deeply saddened.
Lindsey was a true and dear friend, a great leader, and a fierce advocate for the people of South Carolina. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to know him, learn from him, and serve alongside him. He not only graciously welcomed me to the Senate and gave me a seat at the table, but he also took time with my family in a meaningful and impactful way.
Whether he was addressing an issue facing South Carolina or standing up for America’s interests on the world stage, he had vision and purpose, and he used both to tackle challenges others thought impossible. He possessed a rare combination of brilliance, acumen, and wit that brought levity to some of the most difficult moments, always allowing for a brief reprieve before refocusing on what lay ahead.
This is a tremendous loss for our nation, and we’re praying for his sister, family, friends, loved ones, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence in the Senate cannot be replaced. He will be immensely missed.
