When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.” Matthew 27:45-56 NIV bible.com/bible/111/mat.…

At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

“As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. And sitting down, they kept watch over him there.

If Republicans did this, then they don’t have to worry about Democrats taking over because they’ll have institutional power to oppose a D majority effectively. It also restores the Senate back to a closer version of what it was meant to be.

Instead of nuking the filibuster, I propose Senate Republicans: 1) reverse the 2013 & 2017 weakening of the filibuster using point of order rulings to restore the actual rule. 2) formally change the rules of the senate to eliminate the point of order mechanism that allows nuking the filibuster.

I agree. It’s been overused and is so disconnected from its real meaning that you can find nothing of use in it anymore. Lindsey Graham is the only member of Congress to whom it can be marginally applied accurately. But overall, it’s a product of Cold War reality that is largely outdated and whose influence has always been overstated.

Neocon is a meaningless term now.

The “no” side is well documented to be more motivated on this issue, and even in this poll the “no” side is much more solid across all questions. Current EV turnout is more favorable to red congressional districts and even blue CD turnout is being driven disproportionately by red localities. So we’re looking at an interesting convergence of factors that I would say leans “no”, but we certainly cant take chances.

Overall, my analysis on this is that the “no” campaign is performing stronger than the “yes” campaign. I’m not calling this a slam dunk in favor of the “no” campaign, but the numbers in the poll itself suggest the “unsure” vote is inflating the “yes” part of the question, and the poll has a 3.4% margin of error. That’s not good for the “yes” campaign.

A few notes about this: 1) despite a massive fundraising advantage, the “yes“ campaign is only managing a statistical tie in polling 2) this question forces you to pick “yes” or “no” even if you are unsure, which inflates the results to make them look more solid than they are 3) if you go further into the poll, you find the same trend of most voters opposing gerrymandering 4) based on further questions in the polling, a majority does not think of this as a partisan issue nor as a way to fight against Trump 5) We’re still seeing a higher percentage saying the redistricting is unfair than the percentage voting yes,

New: A George Mason University/Washington Post poll found that 52% of likely voters say they would vote, are leaning toward voting, or have already voted in favor of Virginia’s redistricting referendum. Among Likely Voters: Yes: 52%
No: 47% Among Registered Voters: Yes: 53%
No: 44% washingtonpost.com/documents/0eee…
