@KMutisi Thando is a war vet and main wing member of Zanu PF.
Nothing wrong with that..but putting it out there for context

@ZimNewsUpdates @Chofamba @DavidColtart He's addressing journalists. That doesn't mean he was given an opportunity by the parliamentary committee.

Finally, @DavidColtart Mayor of Bulawayo has been given an opportunity to speak, he says absolute power corrupts absolutely, there is no separation of power and this bill gives the president too much power in appointing judges,....and Chiefs cant be partisan.
I was elected by 86% of the Bulawayo people but i must not serve more than my term, its a moral and honourable thing to do!
The extension of the term limit contravenes section 328 as this calls for a referendum first.

The above audio is about secret talks between the Mnangagwas and Chamisa after the 2018 elections, which explains their current mysterious relationship and the death of the opposition.
The audio is rooted in events in post-election violence and killings as well as the continued political and economic turmoil amid social deterioration, which Mnangagwa and Chamisa tried to address via secret Government of National Unity (GNU) talks.
Zimbabwe has a long history of GNU governments before and after Independence in 1980, including the The Internal Settlement in 1978, the 1980 government after Lancaster House talks, the 1987 Unity Accord between Zanu and Zapu, and the 2009-2013 arrangement.
So Chamisa wanted to join Mnangagwa's government after the 2018 elections, something he also wanted to do after the 2030 polls, which led to him abandoning the CCC.
Mnangagwa and his political allies decided to destroy the CCC after the 2023 August elections.
Charumbira had intervened before that with his ethnic hegemony plot in March 2023. This was exposed through a similar audio leak.
An audio recording surfaced featuring Charumbira, former president of the Zimbabwe National Council of Chiefs, making controversial remarks about Chamisa and the Karanga ethnic group.
Speaking at the funeral of Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume's mother in Masvingo, Charumbira called for a Karanga pact to ensure hegemony.
He suggested that since both Mnangagwa and Chamisa are Karangas, they should stop fighting and work together to ensure their tribe maintains political dominance to break Zezuru hegemony established by the late former president Robert Mugabe.
Mnangagwa removed Mugabe in a November 2017 coup and shifted power and resources to Karangas.
In a departure from his usual pro-Zanu PF stance, Charumbira raved about Chamisa’s "intelligence and leadership potential", describing him as a "son of the soil" who should not be dismissed as a mere "sell-out".
He urged the two leaders to "have tea together" to resolve the country’s political and economic crisis, arguing that ordinary citizens suffer while leaders socialise and eat together.
The remarks sparked significant controversy.
Critics, including former minister Jonathan Moyo, described the proposal as a demand for a "Government of Tribal Unity" rather than national unity.
Others criticised the chief for promoting tribalism prohibited by the Zimbabwean constitution.
Following the damaging backlash, Charumbira tried to distance himself from the tribal gist and undertones of his speech, though the audio had been already been widely circulated on social media.
Unbeknown to Charumbira and the public, Chamisa had way back in 2021 been talking to Mnangagwa about becoming him prime minister.
So he has always been open to a deal with Mnangagwa all the time.
Chamisa was engaging the First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa through her aide Ben Muneri - who also fronts her business interests - before he also decided to rope in investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono to act as the emissary because he did not want to be seen at State House for talks as that would send political alarm bells ringing.
Chin'ono was fiercely critical of Mnangagwa's government, although he had given him a chance after the coup.
To discuss the engagement and add momentum to the talks, a meeting was subsequently held at Chin'ono's home in Chisipite in November 2021 between him, Chamisa, and Muneri to map the way forward.
Following that, Chin'ono went to State House to me the First Lady.
Before doing so, he had informed his lawyer and a few other trusted individuals in business and politics to cover his back in case something went wrong.
Chamisa did not want Chin'ono to tell anyone about the talks as he wanted to cut a deal for himself.
Specifically, Chin'ono informed his friend the late Dr Alex Magaisa about it, previously an adviser to main opposition leader and former prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai who died in February 2018.
Magaisa died in June 2022.

This audio (short version) is a confirmed record of a conversation between main opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, then leading the now defunct MDC Alliance, and First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa's aide Ben Muneri.
Chamisa was exploring ways to negotiate with the First Lady and President Emmerson Mnangagwa to become a Prime Minister in the current Zanu PF government in the aftermath of the hotly disputed 2018 presidential poll amid brutal post-election violence and killings on August 1.

In the last few days, two European leaders came out speaking of recalibrating their attitudes and relations with Africa. This shift in rhetoric acknowledges the failures of paternalistic, extractive partnerships.
The real test lies in action. For Europe, sincerity means ceding real control: reforming unfair financial systems, reforming the UN Security Council to give Africa a genuine voice, supporting African leadership in global bodies, and backing local industrialisation—not just raw material exports.
For Africa, the challenge is unity. Our strength lies in collective action through institutions like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). We must define our "broad interests" clearly: dignified jobs, food sovereignty, sustainable energy, and value-added economies.
The invitation to set the terms is on the table. Africa’s response must be a unified, actionable agenda. True partnership will be measured not by declarations, but by tangible shifts in investment, technology transfer, and respect for sovereignty.
The moment demands that we move from rhetoric to architecting a new, equitable future. We must not just accept the offer to set terms—we must design the table itself.

@Mavhure @RMajongwe @ProgressiveOf @TorerayiMoyo @NyombweM @taundoro During most of that period 82-87 Matabeleland was experiencing under development because of the Fifth Birgade's atrocities. Yet others were "working for food".

@RMajongwe @ProgressiveOf @TorerayiMoyo @NyombweM @taundoro Heavy rains destroyed a lot of aging classrooms. High enrollment in some schools.
