@JasminLaine_ Blah blah blah your overall lack of objectivity makes us question your authenticity. Even here to attach the gov tentacles on the CRTC is beyond ridiculous. You're just hopeless Just sit down already!!!

If that’s true, then why does your government continue to keep in place the algorithmic controls of the CRTC which suppresses the reach of anyone talking about the news who is outside of the CBC and government “trusted sources”?
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

Journalism empowers us with the truth and protects our democracy. In a world where it’s increasingly under threat, Canada continues to support a free and open press — and we are stronger for it. #WorldPressFreedomDay

Problem with some on right. Canada is a sovereign country and we will decide what type of relation we have with US. Kowtowing to Trump administration is not what we need or most Canadians want
Jasmin Laine@JasminLaine_

@mileslunn If you don’t like the USA, move to a country that doesn’t work with them. There’s plenty of one party/literal and practical dictatorships to choose from.

Hey conservatives, I get that a lot of you can't stand Carney right now. But today's announcement is actually smart: Team Canada Strong $6 billion to train 80,000–100,000 new skilled trades workers by 2030. It's not more government jobs. It's real incentives for young people to get into high-paying trades so we can actually build homes and infrastructure. Plenty to criticize the Liberals on, but this one's a win for Canada. Worth acknowledging.

“It’s actually a debt fund that’s going to be paid by Canadians against their will.” Somebody put Lantsman’s helmet on too tight. This is a blatant lie. It’s really all they have at this point.
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

Melissa Lantsman: "It's not really a sovereign wealth fund. In order to have a sovereign wealth fund, you've got to run a surplus. It's actually a debt fund that's going to be paid for by Canadians against their will."

Sometimes I wonder why there are so many people who send me death threats and harass me with the most vile and completely false statements about who I am and what I believe in... then, I see articles like this. With respect, @TorontoStar, if you're going to write/publish opinion pieces to incite anger and dog-whistle me, can you at least be accurate? 1) You didn't even spell my name correctly. 2) I'm Canadian... so... wrong country with the multiple "MAGA" references. (Which stands for Make America Great Again) 3) I'm no more "Pro Trump", Than I was "Pro-Biden". I understand this may be hard to understand, but I'm really just pro-democracy and recognize that the U.S.A is our largest trading partner, ally, and neighbour. A widely accepted common-sense view shared by the vast majority of the population, even our Prime Minister and his family, given all the connections, stocks, home(s), and education that you never seem to report on. I typically respect the decisions of foreign elections and have always held the same opinion about our relationship with America... even under Obama! I doubt you'll make any reference to that, though. 4) Conspiratorial? I talk about the economy and government policy... lol... Your publication is far more conspiratorial than any of my work. 5) In 2025, reports have you as receiving 1.6 million from the CJC, and your sister company also received 1.9 million. Additionally, under the federal media bailout, the Toronto Star gets something like $6 MILLION a year in tax credits to pay the salaries of its staff... with that information, there's no reason your establishment can't even do their due diligence to research who they are writing about, and spell check their articles. I would expect to see my tax dollars being put to far better use in future hit pieces trying to discredit and dehumanize me with your divisive and irrelevant labels. I really do wish that one day, you'll report on more than gossip... It's one thing to share information; it's another to share the truth. Canadians are in need of the ladder, and with the money you receive, there is no reason why you have to ever write stories about me and my work; you are more than capable of sending the same emails I do and securing those interviews yourself. That is all.
