For folks who might have not heard it this week, @bankofireland is ending provision of loans for Graduate Entry Medicine in Ireland, the last remaining bank to facilitate this loan. A🧵on Graduate Entry Medicine in Ireland: @AccessMedIre @AMSI_Ireland @IMO_IRL (1/12)

After increasing certain PhD stipends by less than the recommended amount at last year's budget, @SimonHarrisTD promised that increases would continue yearly. Will @podonovan keep this promise next Tuesday? And will we see supports benefiting ALL postgrad researchers? 🤔

@ElishaNiDubhda There's definitely a harshness to people in town which wasn't there a couple years ago. Kind of sad.

@JamesDivilly1 @ciarancannon It isn't a question of trying or not trying, we know from the vacant and derelict homes register, and we know from the amount of brownfield industrial land that there simply isn't enough land to make any sort of dent in housing demand beyond the short term

@JamesDivilly1 @ciarancannon 1. There isn't enough derelict buildings to meet existing housing targets, if you CPOd all of the under utilised/derelict buildings in Dublin you'd maybe get half of a given years housing targets. 2. Its also *a lot* more expensive to retrofit derelict over new build housing

@CeolanMc @ciarancannon Would it not make more sense to put a cpo on derelict buildings of 5 years or more in/adjacent to urban areas instead of penalising active farmers who are using the land for agricultural purposes only?

Anybody know where the flares came from in Central Dublin there? Like 10/20 landing on rooftops

@FinnEoghan @sinnfeinireland @Martin_Kenny Given the service pattern which will be implemented post Dart+, maximum the best you could do is 2-3TPH to the city centre, without quadtracking the line north of Connolly. This at a cost of several billion euro, money which could instead be spent on designing a 2nd Metro Line.

So exciting to see a major political party commit to delivering achievable rail infrastructure! @sinnfeinireland commit to extend the DART 7km to Dublin Airport, which Irish Rail says can be done within 5 years (long before Metro takes shape). Bravo spokesperson @Martin_Kenny

@LeftistDad What was the alternative? The numbers weren't there for an alternative government, and going back to the country could well have led to an even larger share for FFG. Certainly better that the Greens got what the got done done in Govt, rather than sitting on the sidelines.

Once the Green Party entered coalition with FF and FG they became part of the political, economic and climate problem. They have wasted four years that we didn't have to waste.

@Antifa_VP To be fair, you had Sinn Féin ahead of Labour, the former having actual anti immigration stuff on their local leaflets.

@Ireland_Votes This is disgraceful to be honest. An election where less than 50% have voted, and yet the national broadcaster haven't see it necessary to promote engagement in the election this evening.

@christiancalgie Farage has gotten crickets on his lines on immigration, whereas the Greens, Plaid and the SNP got applause on their pro immigration views. Maybe it isn't as straightforward as you think it is.

Hilarious contrast between audience response to Greens and Farage. Green woman trots out the insanely online line about 'knife crime can be stopped with community centres' - crickets. Farage: "STOP AND SEARCH. STOP AND SEARCH" - huge round of applause
