Get a load of this joyful little comedian! Researchers at the University of Bristol (UK) recently created the Early Humor Survey to explore how humor develops in very young children. They found that roughly half of the babies in the tool’s data set showed an appreciation for humor by 2 months of age - and that by 11 months, roughly half of the babies began to experiment with making their own jokes. bristol.ac.uk/news/2021/nove… 🎥 the.present.perspective IG

“ I speak German, Arabic & English but at school I only speak English Because that’s the most important one” Children as young as 7 are aware of the prestigious status given to speaking English. Through our sessions we are interrogating these ideologies.

One in four people in the UK regret never learning another language, according to our recent survey. We went out and about in Manchester, asking people what languages do they speak and why is it important to learn a new language? Watch! 👇

Wordless picture books are a great investment for multilingual families. You can retell the story in your child's different languages, and adapt what you focus on according to their interests and ability. 📚

@Lucie_Wheeler_ Braun and Clarke's (2022) Thematic Analysis book has some great discussion about social constructionism/social constructivism. I'm looking at this too... would love to chat about it. 🙂
