@housetrotter It’s alive and well in every area that isn’t a clear-cut suburban hellscape (or urban decay’d areas). Suburban PA, New England, rural NY, and urban MA, NH, and VA all have “Sandlot” America I’m sure many other areas do as well, but I’ve experienced it in those areas.

@RTSG_Main Been saying this forever. Why does the US government not have locally native fruit and nut trees on every street? It’s the easiest solution ever. Just where I live in IL, my town alone - apple / peach trees. Entire new industry just there.

@DAKKADAKKA1 I lived in a large, busy city and multiple friends had kids. I’d watch them constantly, and the only thing I did was hold hands. My friends did have little cards made with contact info on it, so that a kid could give the card to a shop worker if they got lost. Never happened.

My dad did the same with myself and my siblings. We all moved out right after college and have families. Way more to parenting than just money.

However, that’s almost always in the same location every time. I think it would be easier to hit a HR off a HS senior than a 7th grader (ball speed, consistent placement, etc)
