In the short-term; From the moment Maresca left the club (something many wanted), and we did nothing in January this was always a very possible scenario. I hoped for better as a fan, but this isn’t a surprising reality. It was likely, in truth. For once, we just have to firm the pain and come out on the other side. No more running, no sacking, no nothing. That is the only thing we are yet to do as a club. We go through pain and just constantly restart the process only to end up in the same position, time and time again. Would’ve been nice to do it with Resca’ who was able to minimise short-term pain better, but such is life. Rosenior is drowning short-term and looks beyond saving, but it doesn’t confirm the long-term being doomed (as much as it can feel that way right now). Every team has had to go through it in their own way (Pep 15-20 pts off the title in year 1 with a stacked squad, AFC with Arteta, Utd came 17th last year etc). I’m ready to bear the pain completely for our final 6 games, and see where we are beyond that. In the immediate term for the rest of the season, we are probably cooked. It is what it is now. Whether we persist with him or start fresh this summer is tough to call (& I get every fan who would want the latter), but I also don’t think our current failures completely write him off as a guy who can eventually succeed here. Let’s just get to the summer and see if they follow through on promises on the squad, CL or not. That’s all matters now. Painful, disappointing and frustrating to be here, but what can you do.
