They didn’t. Anyone paying attention knew exactly where this was headed.
Rhode Island lawmakers are now pushing beyond restrictions on new purchases and going straight after possession itself.
Last year’s law blocked the sale of so-called “assault weapons” but left current owners alone.
House bill H8073 was introduced to take the next step, forcing law-abiding owners to give them up or be treated as felons.
No grandfathering.
No carveouts.
Just confiscation.

House Democrats on Ways & Means just killed a bill that would help new dairy farmers. The bill passed the Senate unanimously, is supported by the DFL AG Commissioner, and has zero fiscal impact on the general fund.

Here’s the timeline on why we need to pass the SAVE America Act:
January 2023: A DACA recipient testifies that her people are voting and will vote Democrats out.
March 2023: Tim Walz signs “Driver’s Licenses for All.”
December 2025: Walz’s administration admits those licenses can be used to cast a ballot.
Minnesota has no photo ID requirement. You can vouch for up to EIGHT people with no proof of who they are.
And even if someone votes illegally, there is no provisional ballot system. Once that vote is cast, it cannot be taken back.
This is all by design.
