I have been about as negative as the next guy about Pope this off-season, and I love Santos as a player. But LSU needs a starting center, Kentucky doesn’t, it’s as simple as that. We will get our guy.

@KyleTuckerCBB It's this type of stuff as to why the fan base doesn't back Pope. Kentucky isn't cool, innovative, modern, etc. Other blue bloods have stayed current with trends or even have became the model. Unless Pope changes, recruits will elsewhere and we will continue to fall.

Duke hired Jayson Tatum in a similar role last year. Steph Curry at Davidson, Trae Young at OU as well. Would have been smart for Kentucky to do this with John Wall, being his alma mater, helping mentor players, roster construction, & fundraising. Wall was a superstar at UK. Could have helped with the “Cool” factor.

@LockedOnUK Can we complain about how crappy it was to do McBride like they did. Wait until moments b4 Stokes. Let his commitment be overshadowed by a immature/drama queen in Stokes. Not fair to him, yet I am not surprised because of how many poor decisions the coaching staff seems to make.

Every game we watched this year he was looking for him and when I told him he was coming back with his brother, he jumped up and down with excitement. Can't wait to see them play!

I still don’t buy the narrative that “Mark Pope doesn’t relate to the players” he’s recruiting. You think 73-year old Rick Pitino does? I don’t think so. It’s got to be something else.

Something that drives me crazy about how fans evaluate shooters. Kam Williams shot 28-78 from three this year. That's 35.9%. The narrative: he's not a great shooter, question mark on his game, can he really space the floor at the next level. You know how many more threes he needed to make to be at 41%? Four. Four made threes over the course of an entire season is the difference between being labeled a guy who "isn't elite" and being called an elite floor spacer. That's one extra make every 6 games. A shooter's bounce. A rim that rims in instead of out. A night where the ball just falls. This is the thing fans almost never account for when they're torching a player's shooting reputation on a message board. The difference between a 36% shooter and a 41% shooter on that mid-volume is not some massive talent gap. It's variance. It's sample size. It's the randomness that lives inside every shooting percentage at the college level. And yet the perception gap between those two numbers is enormous. One guy gets questioned. The other gets coveted by every high major fan in the country. Same player. Four shots. Be careful how quickly you bury a shooter based on a percentage. The margin is almost always smaller than you think. #BBN

@BigBlueCarti It's stuff like this that reveals why I think Pope isn't it. Or he needs a GM and needs to change. UK is not a football school, yet Stine is recruiting at a really high level. Pope has everything at his disposal and recruits visit and leave only to commit to other schools.

The frustration last night/today over the loss of Rob Wright was understandable. He is a stud and it looked like UK could get him But Zoom Diallo was second best option for UK and I think can be as good as Lamont Butler here. Players underachieve at Wash. He will be good here

@MrsTylerKSR Maybe Zoom was their first choice? He did visit first and maybe UK pivoted to Wright when he didn't commit over the weekend. I think they went after Zoom first to get Stokes as well. Maybe this along with Nike can reel Stokes in.

Kentucky finally has a portal commit. Rob Wright was Kentucky’s top choice at point guard but Diallo is a solid pickup. Not a great shooter, but a good base to add pieces around.
