🚨 Critical Coldcard firmware bug let attackers drain an estimated $38M in BTC. A 2021 flaw caused the RNG to fall back to a weak software PRNG. Mk3 seeds had only roughly 40 bits of security (vs 128); Mk4, Q, and Mk5 roughly 72 bits. Attackers swept 594 BTC from approximately 500 single-sig wallets in 25 minutes. Firmware updates do not fix existing seeds. Migrate funds to a newly generated seed. TAPSIGNER, OPENDIME, and SATSCARD are unaffected. More details: decrypt.co/374766/38m-in-…
