It speaks to what I think my main takeaway is from this course: balance. Socials and tech are here to stay and necessary, and personal communication cannot be forsaken. #EDH5309
One of the authors I really appreciated during this course was Gabriel Egan because they showed the importance of in person communication while also respecting the necessity of social media. #EDH5309
@1Kimberly_Moore@_lee_g This article is great on so many levels! At my previous institution, spring break was definitely one of the biggest tools needed for the transition online!
@_lee_g
What a great piece chronicle.com/article/covid-…! Your article provided a spotlight
on what was happening at every institution as they pivoted in record time. Thanks for your work and the passion that you bring to it! #EDH5309
Wk6: Prompt 3: My why for leading online is to be a #changemaker that leads from the front! We all know that a flame can start with a small ember, I want to be that #spark for positive change! #EDH5309
@Hatcher_Kris@JPKirchmeier This is an adventure not to shy away from! In addition to change, people have to mentally prepare themselves for the transition as well! #EDH5309
One of the major themes that I gathered from the wonderful #EDH5309 panels this semester is that literally, everyone in #highered is trying to figure it out. Whether that be online learning, program engagement, welcoming students back on campus, or something in between
While I may not incorporate social media into everything I do this year, I'll certainly take the positive attitude I've seen from the panelists and my classmates towards problems and issues that arise.
Wk 6 prompt 1:
Something that resonated with me across all the panels was this idea that we are always growing and moving forward. Whether this is questioning the return to "normal" post-covid, finding opportunities in online instruction, or #EDH5309
@Hatcher_Kris There are not many panels I've seen that have given me hope for the future of technology in higher education! Each one that we've seen fills me with optimism! #EDH5309
#EDH5309 W6 P2: @klarivie, thank you and the authors for writing “Protest: Critical lessons of using digital media for social change”. The article was very helpful in my Tech in HE course and for providing insight on digital student organizing that is still relevant today!
#EDH5309 W6 P1: Two big thematic takeaways I have is the future of higher education will strongly incorporate tech and we need to start working smarter, not harder. I plan to incorporate more technology in my classes as part of assignments and participation, like a Twitter chat.
@cjanelacosta I spent the summer also looking at #highered for up-to-date information on our field as well! I definitely respect the power of the hashtag now too! #EDH5309
This week's #panel was filled with so many gems! I really appreciated the acknowledgement that was made by @ItsDrMordecai about understanding the relevance of the times as educators in #highered#EDH5309
@ColquhounJacob@TJLogan This is one of the hardest things to accomplish. Keeping leadership in this mindset will be a little easier, but ultimately a challenge!
@ChrisRu32261124 This is a great question Chris. I have a few thoughts. First, remind them that you all are in a stronger place with remote learning. That is sometimes the hardest step. Second, I think strong assessments would also help as well! #EDH5309
#EDH5309 W5 P2 - Moving I think will challenge leadership, how do we keep the lessoned learned with the external political pressure to return to normal. How do I convince leadership to keep investing in technology to improve the remote learning modalities?
#EDH5309 W5 P1 - I think the main I am taking away from #edleadership#scichat#edtech is getting use to twitter. Specially when it comes to frequency and how much content to provide in the limited characters
Really appreciated @TJLogan's quote as well: "Let’s figure out what we stopped doing over the past year that are okay to stop doing.” I truly feel this is one of the scariest things HE can visualize!
#EDH5309 W1 P2: Thank you to the panelists for discussing the future of HE! I think the most important takeaway I got from this is how can we maintain diversity and equity in an evolved, more technologically competent HE world! @ItsDrMordecai@TJLogan@JoeSabado
