There is a silent medical scandal ongoing in the UK. A staggering 20,000 NHS doctors will be potentially out of a speciality training job this August. This means doctors can’t train to be consultants or GPs, despite the rising waiting lists. The UK has spent time and public money on the education of UK medial graduates, yet 1000s of them are unable to find a speciality training job. This is a colossal waste of money and an example of diabolical workforce planning. The training spaces are being centrally restricted by the government, yet @wesstreeting refuses to act. Why?

We have a bizarre situation in Britain where the public have to wait years for their operations, yet NHS doctors are out of jobs. 20,000 doctors will potentially have no training job this August. These jobs are being restricted by the government, who have taken no concrete action to address the jobs crisis. Meanwhile doctors are left with no choice but to change careers or move overseas in order to make ends meet. Unemployed doctors and rising waiting lists. 21st century Britain.

After a 12 hour shift, a GP was racially abused and repeatedly punched on the head whilst walking home from work. The GP has now left the practice as they felt unsafe. This isn’t the first time GPs have been the target of abuse. Last week a GP practice was vandalised and was the target of Islamophobic graffiti. Some GP practices closed early to protect staff during the riots last summer. These are hardworking doctors, who just want to do the best for their patients. Nobody should have to fear going into work and being the target of abuse.

If Ukraine still had nukes, Russia would never have invaded. Yet in 1994, the west convinced Ukraine to disarm - in return for security & sovereignty. Now, Trump is siding with Putin. This is the worst betrayal in recent geopolitical history.

Deafening silence from Obama, Clinton, Bush, Biden so far…

Why are so few people talking about this? Either they don’t know, or they’re pretending not to know …and I don’t know which is worse.

Patient data contains sensitive medical information. It is also deeply personal for each individual. Handing over patient medical data to help overseas firms & accelerate the spread of privatisation within the NHS is wrong. The NHS and patient data should not be up for sale.
