@Truth_matters20 “Not a single woman ate the Lord’s supper in the NT.” Lol, same bad argument. Pentecost is the Feast of Weeks. God gave explicit festal instructions for entire households. This is the audience he’s addressing when he commands the crowd to be baptized (the visible promise).

So God said don't make idols to worship them and the Orthodox gets around this command by claiming they don't worship idols they "venerate icons". Reason stated is that they are "windows into heaven necessary to be able to visually and fully grasp the fullness of the heavenly and the incarnation, which is why we NEED icons"...so that that you have something you can, worship, I mean focus on and venerate. Things like angels, saints and such...and if you don't worship idols, I mean venerate icons, then you are anathema and cut off from salvation. If you didn't already have reason enough to stay away from Orthodoxy this should be enough. Idol worship. -StayFocused #Watchman #Bible #Orthodox #Apologetics #Jesus

@OfOttawa @eva_hodor @Eli_StayFocused @JPuncut "handed down to us in the Scriptures" Almost like he's talking about physical writings which are to be understood as the "ground and pillar of our faith." Weird. This is the problem with EO's speculations & anachronisms, treating the word like a wax nose. x.com/CharlesTheLess…

The “Gospel” they are referring to is the good news and apostolic teaching of Christ’s death and resurrection — not “four books modern people call the Gospel”. This is the problem with Protestants going off half-cocked and interpreting Scripture in a vacuum, detached from how the early Church actually functioned and ignorant of the meaning of words.

15 minutes in and it was already conceded and granted to @JPuncut that there is nothing in scripture that teaches the veneration, or prayer to saints, or asking dead saints to pray on your behalf. @OfOttawa basically says that it doesn't need to be found in scripture. youtube.com/live/8o-jo0nu0…

@dmullz_117 @RyanHurst171 "yet grace and salvation are not so inseparably annexed unto it" and "by the right use of this ordinance the grace promised is not only offered, but really exhibited and conferred by the Holy Ghost" Not automatic, but ordinary.

To my fellow Presbyterians rejecting the idea that baptism confers regeneration like our confession teaches because faith is required for the sacrament's efficacy, how do you not find contradiction in the baptism of our infants then?

@RyanHurst171 Yes. I think not only does our confession afford this, but I think this was the general understanding of the divines, as can be seen in Cornelius Burgess's notable work.
