@BradKlibansky @BradKlibansky this needs to be revisited! Meek is just a different player without Reeves. Question is whether you want a ruck who can have an impact around the ground or a ruck who might give us a better chance in centre clearance

@BradKlibansky Are you convinced Reeves is in best team? I know he was playing against a debutant but Meek gets his most time on ground and plays his best game. For mine he’s a player who needs to work into games. Shown up by Gawn last week but it’s one to ponder

@RedOctober1990 @1116sen @AFLNation @GerardWhateley Mate come on, that’s the whole story and been reported! The whole reason he wanted a trade is because Essendon pulled the “rebuild” trigger. Remember when Scott before that refused to use the word? He signed a long termer on the premise that they’d be competing for flags!

@RedOctober1990 @1116sen @AFLNation @GerardWhateley I don’t think you understand that verbal agreements hold legal weight, literally. But further to that the bigger issue I think is the way you’ve handled it. By being so stubborn on this you’ve hurt your club in the long term, players won’t want to join. We will see though

@Charlie31060823 @1116sen @AFLNation @GerardWhateley That’s nonsense Charlie. Seriously mate. As if a contract has a clause in it saying “we promise you success otherwise you can leave whenever you want”. I think Essendon should have traded him last year BUT he is contracted, he is the captain and is highly paid. Suck it up.

@RedOctober1990 @1116sen @AFLNation @GerardWhateley No I’m not! Merrett signed the contract with the promise of a competitive side and competing in finals. Yes, nothing is guaranteed but the way that club has let him down, surely you understand why he’d want to leave? Your club is playing “tough” in the wrong areas!

@Charlie31060823 @1116sen @AFLNation @GerardWhateley You’re basically advocating for the absolute full power to players in a contractual sense. Why do clubs even bother with long term contracts then mate? It’s wrong. Clubs need security as much as the players look for financial security when signing them.

@RedOctober1990 @1116sen @AFLNation @GerardWhateley You can think whatever you want but at the end of the day there’s a reason why literally everyone bar Essendon supporters thinks the opposite of your rhetoric. Players will think twice about signing contracts with Essendon now, not great for free agency!

@Charlie31060823 @1116sen @AFLNation @GerardWhateley Charlie, there is zero guarantees of anything in football. The club knew that and Zach well & truly knew that. He even renegotiated his contract which Essendon did not have to do. He is extremely well paid & needs to accept his role in the club’s devoid leadership situation.

@RedOctober1990 @1116sen @AFLNation @GerardWhateley Hear me out here. Merrett signed that contract on the basis that Essendon were going to compete in finals. They then declared a rebuild which means the Dons broke their verbal agreement before Merrett tried to break his written agreement. They can and have done that but it’s ugly

@FootyonNine He intentionally made a beeline for a player to start a fight and made contact with an umpire with that stupid action. I’d be shocked if the AFL allow him to get away with that. They won’t like the fact he’s started a fight at that time and that he’s also made contact with an ump

Our worst performance all year and it's not even close. So poor. The only thing to cling to right now is this is *such* an absurd outlier of a game. This is like nothing we've seen from Hawthorn in some time. Unfortunately for us though we've given the entire comp a look at how to steamroll us. #AFLHawksDees
Hawk Talk Podcast@HawkTalkPod

The side looks lost, listless, disorganised, toothless today. It's not just down to the younger brigade who have come in, it's more on the guys we have come to depend upon. Like if you told me a virus had swept through the club, I'd believe you #AFLHawksDees

@HawkTalkPod Thrilled to win the last 2. Consistent concerns are annoying, however, we can now make a genuine run at top 2 with our run home and I reckon this is a team that will switch on when finals start and hopefully put away the concerns we have seen

Full time. Hawks by 14. Never in doubt... right?! Fair bit of relief with that result. We might be top four but it doesn't especially feel like it tonight. Yeah our best is great but the drop-offs continue, and they're concerning. So I dunno. Injuries a mounting issue too; Wiz will probably miss a couple I'm guessing. But onto the positives! Day was massive, Ginni ran into some form, Dalton showed plenty. Supply to our fwd 50 is there, we just need to make more of it. Who did you guys like from tonight? What are some of your takeaways? #AFLHawksGiants

@FootyonNine He’s absolutely correct, good on him for saying something. Maybe the AFL should have a look at why he’s done this rather than just blindly punishing it

Im genuinely shocked that everyone is so low on the Jets this year. I think they're gonna surprise a lot of people when they win 7 games & have to trade all of their picks to get their QB1.

@BradKlibansky How bad were we in the second half actually? Was it the goal kicking or were we as bad as it felt? Our inability to halt momentum has cost us yet again! That and quick goals from centre clearance. I’m shocked we found a way to lose that
