@JeppaDT I’ve actually wondered this considering essendon might get extra list spots. You would have to assume that would be the case, but potentially, they could just abolish it, but then still have 4 rookie list spots. Might be an ongoing part of assistance packages

@liparota @SilverTopHurls @Bombers_Boss @nicko_schofield The shoes fits comment was tongue in cheek because I didn’t think it was going to really go further than that. I thought one person read it that way and I just made a joke. I then saw it was clearly not conveying what I was trying to say
English

@SilverTopHurls @FootyLock6 @Bombers_Boss @nicko_schofield Oh ok. “If the shoe fits” is misunderstood 🤣
If you don’t care then please remove me from the thread. Cheers 🍻
English

@SilverTopHurls @Bombers_Boss @liparota @nicko_schofield Summed it up better than what I could hahah
English

@FootyLock6 @Bombers_Boss @liparota @nicko_schofield Morris is more a Pawn than a mastermind
Doesn’t mean Scott shouldn’t have been sacked, also doesn’t mean Hird shouldn’t be the next coach, but if people don’t see journos get used for narratives, and this situation isn’t immune to that, they are living under a rock
English

@Tommy_Wolfe7 @readingtheplay1 Yeah you can see the varying opinions in that range for sure
English

@FootyLock6 @readingtheplay1 Yeah, there's a good group there.
But then, 10-40 is so even. Lot's of variability in people's rankings but the talent is so close.

@lenphil29 Post wasn’t written well in hindsight, was meant to be a thought on media pushing for stories but hasn’t read that well. Your first point is correct
English

@Bombers_Boss @liparota @nicko_schofield Look, to both of you, looking back at my post and how it’s been read, it clearly didn’t convey the thought I had, I am better off deleting it
English

@liparota @FootyLock6 @nicko_schofield My mind is actually blown at this thread! Tom Morris is the architect behind the Scott sacking and potential Hird hiring
🤣🤣🤣🤯🤯🤯
English

@PatrickRyen @DCampagna13 Look, I think this thought of mine hasn’t been written out well at all, it doesn’t have anything to do with the essendon board.
I actually do want Hird, I think he’s one of the few that could handle the job.
I’m just going to delete, it didn’t convey my thought well
English

Sorry, I love some of your footy analysis, but this is one of the most ridiculous things I've read or heard in a long time. Knowing Tom, and knowing some members of the Essendon board, this is disrespectful to all parties and completely fanciful.
Perhaps you just need to openly say you don't want Hird and stop with the conspiracy theories. It's a far more credible position than trying to dress speculation up as fact.
English

@Bombers_Boss @liparota @nicko_schofield This was more my point, I’m not saying he’s behind it at all, but he definitely pushed for the Brad Scott story. All I’m saying is that he pushes for stories, and can use his influence in many ways to do that

@liparota @nicko_schofield No not at all, that’s where them doing what they are doing is kind of where it stops, he would have no influence over them. The post was more about Tom using his influence to push an idea more. It’s just a thought. Good journos push for stories all the time

@FootyLock6 @nicko_schofield You actually think Welsh, Richards and Di Pietro will sit down and say “We need to employ this guy because Tom Morris said so”. Seriously?
English

@FootyLock6 Is your thesis that Hird Coaching Essendon is a planned out conspiracy masterminded by Tom Morris?
English

@FootyLock6 I’ve read this more times than I should 😅
What part of this is self interest for Morris? What does he gain from Hird being appointed?
English

@PatrickRyen We can have different opinions, I really wasn’t trying to make a deep post
English

It's difficult in an interview when you're being asked specific questions and have limited time to fully explain your thoughts. Like many Essendon supporters, Lloydy knows the sense of hope and excitement Hird's appointment would bring to the fan base and, in my view, the playing group as well. As he rightly points out the club is at rock bottom and we need someone who can come in and unite the entire club. Someone who loves it and understands it warts and all.
There is still going to be plenty of losing along the way because we're a young side. I think Lloydy was simply making the point that Hird would bring belief, hope and enjoyment to the journey. I also know for a fact that Lloydy has enormous respect for Hird's coaching. He's brought Hird in to work with many of his Haileybury players, including Roberts, who spoke glowingly about the experience.
So my point was simply that, in an interview, you don't always have the time to express every nuance of your view. Notwithstanding that, I thought what Lloydy said was spot on.
English

Totally get what Lloydys saying, and do agree to a degree, but, I think the point he made about “bringing joy back while they’re losing” is a bit of an oxymoron on multiple levels. If you bring him in just for that, not his coaching, then you keep losing, and there’s no joy

Matthew Lloyd has been questioned on his growing support for James Hird as Essendon's next head coach. FULL COMMENTS 👉 brnw.ch/21x4kb5
English

@PatrickRyen I wasn’t attacking him, just pointing out that the particular statement is a bit of an oxymoron
English

He has spoken at length in numerous interviews about his coaching philosophy and acumen. He has also made it clear that he wants the club to run a thorough process. A critical part of this appointment is exactly what Lloydy rightly points out, it won't be easy, and both the players and supporters need to find enjoyment in the journey. Without that, sustained success is incredibly difficult to achieve.
English

@PatrickRyen He doesn’t mention his coaching, just talks about having joy while losing, which is a bit of an oxymoron. I’m more saying why wouldn’t we bring him back for his coaching first and foremost, if he’s the best candidate
English

@FootyLock6 When does he say bring him back just for that and not for his coaching?
English

@FootyLock6 "It's pretty high level stuff" according to old mate 🤣
