Hugely significant that the USS Tripoli and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit is now en route to the Gulf from its base in Okinawa after CENTCOM’s request was approved. The US Marines seizing Iran’s oil lifeline, Kharg Island via an amphibious operation now looks very possible.

I slightly regret the tweet to be honest; it was a quick thought about how UK is a much smaller global power than in past global crises - but I fear it's given impression I think cost of living pressures don't matter
