Exc: Angela Rayner has privately criticised the OBR for failing to recognise the benefits of increased public spending for economic growth.
In a call with investment bankers, the former deputy prime minister said the Conservatives had been “disrespectful” of the watchdog - but cautioned there was a danger Labour risked “overcorrecting”.
She also sought to ease concerns over her increasingly strident criticisms of the government, by stressing that the instability caused by a leadership challenge would be bad for the country.
