Let's see: *Held an anniversary event that invited a number of white supremacists holding anti-Jew, anti-Israel views. *Husband, Fred McCarty, lead knuckle-dragger at TTP, is a racist piece of garbage, hates Jews, and generally is terrible. *Julie McCarty condones her husband's antisemitic views, because as has been reported in the past at @TheTXVoice thetexasvoice.com/meet-the-conse… *Julie declared once that TTP is the "answer" to the "failed GOP", all while for two years in a row facing ruin themselves. *Husband Fred sympathizes with psychopath that murdered people in the El Paso Wal-Mart shooting because why not right? I have said for years that True Texas Project is not conservative, nor is it Republican. The very idea that two California transplants came to this state, and started an organization to show native Texans how to "truly be Texan" is ludicrous on its face. Why should we take any political advice at all from three terrible people, yes that includes you Fran, who could effectively make changes in their former state of residence?

It’s not every day that one gets to listen to a former British Prime Minister recite from memory the opening passages of The Iliad in Ancient Greek, with no notes, in response to a random question from an undergraduate—and all while wearing what appear to be Thomas The Tank Engine socks. But today was one such day. My thanks to my good friend Brad LaMorgese for the opportunity to see the colorful and comic Boris Johnson speak tonight at the University of Dallas.

@TAMULawSchool has climbed from unranked to a top 25 law school since A&M acquired it. It has top-tier bar passage rates and faculty. He knows turnarounds, and we know that Fort Worth ISD needs it. A third of the kids in the district can read on grade level. A third.

Geesaman Acknowledges Paxton Confirmed Legality of Kitzman’s Consulting createsend.com/t/t-8B00DB4301… There is not a more honorable man in the Texas House than Representative Stan Kitzman. The fact that Tim Dunn and his Texas Scorecard and Texans for Fiscal Responsibility would support his opponent is even further proof of Kitzman’s integrity.

College Sports are broken, and those who first made the mess and profit handsomely from the status quo do not want to fix it. Without meaningful change, opportunities for thousands and thousands of talented student athletes will disappear and women’s and Olympics sports programs will be canceled. A disjointed and disorganized revenue generation system is the root cause, and everybody in college sports knows it - including many members of the Big 10 and SEC, who have recently reported staggering and unsustainable athletic deficits and debts. Ironically, at least one of these two commissioners, who argue that the status quo is “just fine”, have simultaneously pursued onerous private equity and debt deals to paper over the overwhelming deficits many of their member institutions face. The situation is even more dire in the lower-revenue conferences, as is well known. Our primary objective is to provide athletic programs, both big and small, the tools they need to achieve financial sustainability and preserve all of their programs, scholarships, and roster spots. We want to grow the financial pie, and make it work for everybody - doing so in a way that doesn’t not punish or take revenue away from the “big boys”. Not only is this the right thing to do, it is also consistent with the President’s “Saving College Sports” Executive Order, that was issued last summer. The posture of these two commissioners indicates that they do not care about the fate of the other conferences or smaller schools, nor do they care about the life-changing opportunity provided to women and to athletes in our Olympic sports. It seems they have chosen to disregard the directives of the President and the will of the American people. Change is difficult, I get that, especially when it means dismantling a long-held, broken, backwards system. My sincere hope is that, instead of throwing up roadblocks to our congressional momentum, we can work together on solutions that put the student athletes first and preserves the viability of the great American institution of college sports.

My Senate colleague @SenatorBirdwell is up for his confirmation hearing in the Senate Armed Services Committee this morning! I can’t think of anyone more storied and qualified to be in charge of Army logistics at the Pentagon than a retired Lt. Col. and a survivor of the 9/11 attack 25 years ago. His book, “Refined by Fire”, details his 57 surgeries as he recovered from the terrible wounds he suffered on #September11 and shows the faith-based reasoning that pulled him through and made him such an accomplished member of the Texas Senate.
