The concept of "teenager" is a modern invention.
For most of human history, a boy of 13 was already a man, apprenticed in a trade or fighting in a war.
George Washington was a professional surveyor at 16.
Alexander Hamilton managed a trading company at 14.
In medieval Europe, noble boys could be pages at 7 and squires by 14.
In Rome, a boy put on the "toga of manhood" at 14.
The idea that an 18 year-old is "still figuring things out" would have been incomprehensible to our ancestors.
I believe this is why we think teenagers are so troubled. They are men and women stuck in a society that treats them as children. Of course they are going to "rebel".
We should give them more responsibility and expect much more of them.

This gives pronunciation clues.

@jakerattlesnk How the hell do we know what it sounded like in 5000BC? I can sort of buy that we can know what English sounded like in the 1500s since Shakespeare's plays have been passed down from Generation to Generation, but don't buy that we have any clue what it sounded like before that.

When did teacher’s attire take a turn? Teachers today dress like they are all teaching PE. Growing up all my teachers wore heels, dresses, slacks, dress shirts, hair was done. They looked put together. Teachers today look like they don’t care. the way you show up contributes to the environment you work in. this may be one of the factors into why kids behave the way they do. take the profession seriously so the kids can take you seriously

@CharmingLadyDes @Toecutta1 @EODHappyCaptain They absolutely don't knowingly allow people with asthma in, take what happened to Noah Jamar Evans in Marine Boot camp in 2023, he withheld the information he had asthma and later died during an asthma attack during a physical endurance test.

Most people don’t realize how hard it is to get into the military. People will try and use it as a fall back plan, but the reality is that joining is a long process, and most people don’t qualify.
