@rabbriansamuel Allah = God. Intention of the Muslim saying the name during slaughter is to say in the name of God. I find no issue, similar to kosher, etc..

Halal meat is slaughtered according to Islamic law, and a blessing is spoken in the name of Allah. Should Christians avoid halal meat? Does this count as "meat sacrificed to idols"?

@Kiradavis @kelliwardaz Muslims have to pray 5 times a day so they kinda need the area. I don’t see why a Christian needs to go into a chapel to pray

I have a habit of stopping by airport chapels when I have the time. Most of them have closed down in the US in major airports, but DFW reopened theirs and they’re basically mosques. I had a very uncomfortable experience praying in the chapel on Palm Sunday, but I refused to leave while the Muslims were being so nasty. I refused to leave what is meant to be a temple of the Lord, especially on Palm Sunday. I had a long layover so I waited them out. One man grew frustrated after about 30 minutes and left, but not before others came in. They were clearly having conversations about me in Arabic. They weren’t being shy about letting me know they were talking about me. But I sat and prayed and read the Bible and I did not leave until the last Muslim had cleared out. It was actually a very scary experience given how isolated the chapel was, but I think we need to start staking ground.

@winthornegary @Armin42069 @Tanyaelisabeth It can happen overnight. First state we homeschooled in, you could withdraw your child immediately, and then you had 30 days to get your homeschooling paperwork turned into the district.

@Zack31849967 @ConfusedMathem1 @pegobry_en Inconclusive. I have a friend who asked us to be guardian to their children if something happened. Does that mean my friend has no siblings? (The real story is that there were reasons my friend didn't want the siblings to get custody.)

The great thing about Sola Scriptura is that every day’s a new day! Did Mary have other children? "Of course" XYZ. Did generations of men smarter and holier than me think different? Doesn’t matter! I read the thing and I have an OPINION What a wonderful basis for a religion
Lyman Stone 石來民 🦬🦬🦬@lymanstoneky

It’s a very fun troll Of course the truth is Mary did have other children, and also that Paul was a married man. Some traditions really are incorrect, even if pious

Mary and Joseph were betrothed when the Angel Gabriel came to Mary. Betrothal is like an engagement but in Jewish customs couples can have sex in this period. When Mary said, "How can this be, for I know not man", she's basically saying she and Joseph never had sex in their betrothal period. Why? Because Joseph knew Mary was a perpetual virgin before agreeing to marry her. Hence why he never had sex with her in their betrothal period.

@marasmith7 @JennMGreenberg It's 100% biblical and historical, you literally have no idea what you're talking about. Jewish couples could have sex in their betrothal period. Which is why Jesus wasn't considered a bastard child. Because the community assumed he was the child of Joseph.

I didn't mention anything about mainline churches. There are plenty non mainline churches that are liberal. And almost every Protestant church around me is more liberal than the Catholic Church. Even the most liberal Catholic Church it's going to be more conservative than most Protestant churches.

I don't think the data is wrong. It matches what I have seen. Lots of lukewarm Catholics barely hanging on. Usually liberal and want a church where they don't need to defend things like opposing abortion or opposing gay marriage. The few Protestants I met they came in are mostly in relationships with Catholics or seeking tradition. And tradition is not always found in the average Catholic parish

Empirically speaking: The movement from Catholic --> Protestant is way larger than the opposite direction. In the 1970s: 8% of Catholics became Protestants 3% of Protestants became Catholic. In the 2020s: 12% of Catholics -> Protestants 3% of Protestants -> Catholic

What this doesn't show is if the Protestant movement is to liberal heretic churches that endorse abortion, zionism, lgbt, etc. Many "Christian" churches today do not follow the Bible so unfortunately many in the "Protestant" category should be recategorized to atheist or agnostic.

@ryanburge So my daughter and I just did a tour at Grand Canyon University and it was very interesting that our tour guide was former Catholic who has become evangelical and transferred to GCU to strengthen her faith in that direction. Anecdotal, but we just experienced it today.

An American buys a $138,000 home. She sends the bank $9,286. After interest, taxes, and insurance take their cut, ONLY $952 actually touches the loan. $8,300 is PURE interest. This isn’t paying down a mortgage — it’s usury, and it should be ILLEGAL nationwide.

@21CenturyMitch @razorfist Dude, islam is almost entirely works-based. The only guarantee of paradise is martyrdom. The hajj wipes out bad deeds, which is why it's so important to time it correctly--not too early in life, but not so late you die before completing it.

@razorfist Neither Catholicism nor islam is works-based. In islam martyrs and terrorists may be rewarded more, but the actual means of salvation looks more like predestination.
