People still need cars. Want personal cars. People will want self driving. Tesla is only focused on their own autonomy for their own fleets. Those two things are not intersecting. I want to buy a new Tesla that meets my families needs. It doesn’t exist and unlikely every will. I’ll have to buy a non-tesla and that doesn’t make me happy. Oh. And I still don’t have the FSD I paid 12k for 4 years ago.

So had a few days to digest. What's your overall impression of Tesla's conf call and what 2026 has to offer?

This just leads to higher costs to consumers (more labeling requirements = higher opex/cogs) and actual no real change in consumer habits. Potentially no consumer price increase due to market pressures which then means tighter margins for producers. The few people who actually look for nutrition labels (like myself) are generally making broader food segment decisions that don’t actually require looking at the label. Set a standard, Make it voluntary, let the market drive if consumers put value to it.

For the record, I'm not in favor of more bureaucracy as the tool to solve this issue. That tends to consolidate power and destroy small wineries. I don't want the government to "protect me" like this. I want to meet my farmers, ranchers and vintners and have a relationship with where my food and drink comes from.

Alcohol labels are NOT required to list their ingredients unlike every other food and drink product in America. This is even after the National Consumers League, 67 other organizations, and 4 public health school deans petitioned the TTB to require it in 2003. The Wine Institute (California's big trade group) responded fiercely, arguing that nutrition labeling as a concept didn't even work because American obesity had increased since labels were introduced in the 1990s. When the TTB asked for public comment, 94% of responses said no change was needed, which gives you a sense of how organized the industry pushback was. The TTB sat on that petition for 19 years, doing nothing. In 2022, the same coalition had to sue the bureau for failing to act. They won, and the TTB agreed to begin rulemaking on mandatory ingredient labeling. The EU began requiring ingredient labeling on wine starting December 2023. US wine labeling standards have been essentially unchanged since 1935. Zero of the top 67 wine brands in the US voluntarily list ingredients.

My biased opinion: *IF* you purchased FSD *AND* you are the original owner from Tesla, you should be given that amount discounted off a new hw4 model 3 or Y. Whether it was 5k, 7k, 8k, 10k, etc..

So which version of Elon do you prefer? Version where he makes a prediction that ends up being wrong in the first year, or this version, who is being honest about the challenges from manufacturing humanoid robots? I prefer the latter.

Tesla has confirmed that FSD V14 Light will be released for HW3 owners in end of June.

@teslascope Sounds like those micro factories are years out. They are trying to wait out the install base.

– A distilled V14 build will be released in the interim for HW3 "V14 Lite", which will include the majority of features currently available in AI4. Coming in June. – A "microfactory" in metropolitan cities to upgrade existing vehicles, as service centers can be overwhelmed.

"How will HW3 vehicles reach Unsupervised Full Self-Driving?" – HW3 does not have the capability to achieve Unsupervised Full Self-Driving. – Customers will be offered a discounted trade-in and the ability to upgrade the Autopilot hardware and cameras.
