My team arrests a lot of people on warrants. My understanding is, if one more suspect insists "But I was going to court today" as the cuffs go on, it'll be the thousandth time we've heard this, a bugle will sound, & we will each be presented with a commemorative tote bag.

When a police dept. has job openings, there'll be some convicted felons who apply, maybe hoping the department has relaxed their standards & will understand that, sure, I pistol-whipped a guy in 2008, but '08 was a trying year for us all what with the downturn in the economy.

Cops can get focal lock during stress. You tell a guy get on the ground or drop the knife 7 times in a row and he doesn't, the 8th time probably isn't going to magically compel him either. Say or do something else. Have a Plan B when Plan A shows every sign of not working at all.

I read a police report where some sharp-eyed cops spotted and detained a man graffitiing a wall. The suspect said he was spraying the wall in order to empty the paint can so no one else could use it to commit vandalism. Yes. That is what he said.
