First: resident doctors want “pay restoration” to 2008 levels. Except they’ve already achieved it: their base pay is the highest it’s ever been. They are only down at all when we consider that they used to do vast amounts of very generous overtime on the 2002-16 contract 2/6

- 9yo boy referred to A&E by GP with suspected appendicitis - Never seen by a doctor. The hospital says it ‘couldn’t identify who saw the patient’ - Discharged - Getting worse, his father calls 111 (non-emergency line) - No answer for 2h, is triaged to get a call back from a clinician - Gets even worse. Parents take him back to A&E. - Diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and dies of septic shock. leighday.co.uk/news/press-rel…

"three week training programme" + "150 hours supervised clinical practice" = manage patients independently + deliver "autonomous care" Surely this is stretching the bounds of being called "advanced practice"? What do you even learn in such little time? @ImperialNHS

@DarrenA2833 @ItsnotrightUK @JupiterRose2016 @DrRosena If that’s the case what’s the point of a PA?

Picture 1 Consultant Level Arts Therapist £80-90k Picture 2 Senior Resident Neurosurgeon who has completed all of their consultancy exams £65-67k Resident Doctors are incredibly undervalued Their request for pay restoration is a bargain!

Now we know why Rishi Sunak refuses to negotiate with NHS staff. He wants the strikes to go ahead, so he can blame doctors and nurses for his failure. #PMQs

Non-PHEM trainees still had a better percentage pass rate compared to paramedics with that difference being even more apparent with PHEM trainees.
