@philosospeedy @FChristopher77 I am not that learned but take consideration of where Christ says what we did for the least of us we did for Him. Loving our neighbor isn’t about the neighbors themselves, per se, but rather about God and expressing our love of Him by loving what He made in His image.

Sorry, why is this in error: “If a man does not say in his heart, ‘In the world there is only myself and God,’ he will not find rest.” What is written below supersedes what you wrote above: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”... Why so: If a man or woman says in their heart, “In the world there is only myself and God,” They immediately violate the second great commandment. Focusing on oneself and forgetting others is a failed initiative. There is certainly NOT only myself and God. What happens if one forgets the second part? Progress stagnates.

Late have I understood the depth of the words of St. Isaac the Syrian: “Be a friend to all, but alone in your inner thoughts.” People are icons of God, yet fallen and changeable icons. They can hurt and disappoint us not only through their weakness, but also through our own excessive openness and sincerity - when we give our heart to the creature instead of to the Creator. The Holy Fathers teach us to be gentle and loving toward all, yet to guard the depths of the soul untouched, reserved for God alone. Let us not become passionately attached to anyone, but rather love in Christ, with a pure and free love. For He alone is unchanging and worthy of our whole heart: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30) The Fathers of the desert said: “If a man does not say in his heart: ‘In the world there is only myself and God,’ he will not find rest.” (Abba Alonius) Therefore, when we feel betrayed or wounded, let us examine ourselves: have we not scattered our holy love upon the transitory, forgetting the Eternal One? Guard your heart, brother, and you shall find unshakable peace in Christ!

@Folmsdemnevanni So Wass, as Ukrainian, blocked JAP for drawing Russian OC...and the other artist must apoligize for drawing soldiers of other country? Or this works just because Wass has more numbers?

@DailyLifeofMan @LostMyHats Well, I’m no biblical scholar but Paul says he didn’t. The law says that all who hang on a tree are cursed, and Paul says that this means Christ was cursed in the eyes of the law and did not fully keep it.

Here's some thoughts from one of the more notable Church Fathers, John Chrysostom: “Some of our people fast with the Jews and keep their Sabbaths, and some even light lamps with them and take part in their festivals. I hate these festivals of the Jews. I hate their Sabbaths. I hate their new moons. I hate their sacrifices. God hates them, too. They were once venerable, but now they are contemptible. Once they were holy, but now they are profane. Do you see how great the difference is? Do you see how far they have fallen? When Christ was not yet come, their rites were acceptable; but now that the truth has come, the shadow is no longer useful. When the sun has risen, who needs the lamp? If someone admires the Jewish rites, he admires them as still valid. But if they are valid, then Christ has not yet come. And if Christ has not yet come, then He has not yet been crucified. And if He has not been crucified, then our sins have not been taken away. You see where this leads. Participation in their festivals is a denial of Christ." - John Chrysostom, "Against the Judaizing Christians," Homily 1 in Antioch, circa 367AD.

Speak spontaneously with Christ, the Mother of God, the angels, and the saints, wherever you are, and tell them all that you desire. “Jesus, Mother of God, you know my state. Lend me a helping hand!” In this simple and humble way, speak to them constantly about what troubles you, and then say the prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.” Saint Paisios of Mount Athos

@dissproportion My elementary town leagues for basketball and soccer had tryouts and every coach and most parent la treated it like we were trying to go pro. I hated it and my teammates and quit all sports after my freshman year of high school before getting into running and weights.

yesterday during Divine Liturgy I was being bad and judging a nun who was standing next to me. I was thinking to myself “she has no idea how hard it is to be a normal guy!!” Then, she randomly looked over at me and said “we’re praying for you! We know how hard it is! If it was easy Saint Anthony wouldn’t have went into the desert!” Then I just said “forgive me!!” and she laughed.

@ourospost @GlobalOrthodox Anti (αντί) means “in place of,” so the antichrist is whatever people put in place of Christ. If we claim to be Christians but don’t live as such, we are putting things in place of Christ.

But my thing with shows like South Park and Family Guy is that I’ll always have a personal resentment towards them for how they’ve portrayed Jesus. The whole silly goofy Jesus portrayal really hurt my reverence towards Christ upon my initial conversion, it was a struggle getting that image out of my head. There’s a weird level of fondness I’ll admit for to, because I did love those shows when I was younger, but the way the portray Christ on their shows hurts people’s image of Christ in their mind. So that’s why I don’t like them. This is what I was saying regarding Trump. I could care less about them making fun of Trump.
