Set aside that it is mildly disturbing that Trump is genuinely pulling numbers from his base that even Kim Jong Un couldn't manufacture, I don't know why anyone is surprised. Trump really is MAGA. People who think the Tucker et al have the pulse of it are simply ignorant.

@MyopicEeyore I think people voted for lots of different reasons. And I think Republicans besides Trump could have, and would have, beaten Clinton.
This is ultimately all ephemeral in any case. We’ve made the presidency so powerful that the next Democrat will simply undo most of it.

@MyopicEeyore And this isn’t about me not liking him, though I don’t. This is about the fact that he IS his movement. Polling has already borne out that people who self-identify as MAGA think the Iran strikes are good, because they’re loyal to Trump first.

@MyopicEeyore We can’t ever make confident pronouncements about why people voted as they did. People voted for him for all sorts of reasons: they hated Clinton or Harris, they liked the funny man from the game show, they were mad about inflation, whatever.
