Spoke to @BBCWorld on the radio about our Dad and his almost year-old murder recently. Difficult to do this, but our Dad, Prof (Chief) Obidinma Isaiah Okoli Onyemelukwe deserves the story of his death to be told, as do other victims of violence: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0…

“Odumodublvck’s lyrics are marked by a more explicit fusion of sexuality and menace. In the controversial song “Cast” with Shallipopi, he raps: “Big Kala, I need your bunda, mama / If she no fuck o, if she no suck / Who go pay for her wig and handbag?” Now that the rape case has died down, the hashtags have ceased. And society has continued to live, tolerating the excesses of men. Yet when another rape case springs up, we act surprised. In an essay I wrote on @tweetedbyCC I examine how the seemingly little things wreak the greatest compounded havoc. Read here: culturecustodian.com/how-micro-perm…

My dad is dead. He will be buried tomorrow. Funeral tomorrow. Deleting his number was by far the toughest decision of my life.

I find “The Only Son” an interesting read. Cheluchi Onyemelukwe’s prose is almost at the level of Jennifer Makumbi’s. The language is deeply rooted and her writing is quite innovative and unique.
