@GauravKathuria3 @SusanPolgar So what about his match against MVL? Retired and washed up too? Not in his prime, absolutely not, but still a world class player.

@SusanPolgar He is a good player, no doubt but the way he has been gaining elo points is questionable. Such clash of generation matches with old retired masters literally means buying elo points by paying them to play & lose old hard earned ratings. This achievement is bulls**t in my opinion.

Another Chess Record Broken! ♟️ While the chess world was captivated by 🇺🇿 GM Javokhir Sindarov’s spectacular performance in the FIDE Candidates, another young phenomenon has shattered a world record! His name is GM Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş 🇹🇷 from Turkey. He has become the youngest player in history, 14 years old, to break the 2700 barrier after convincingly defeating former World Champion Veselin Topalov 🇧🇬 in a one-sided match! 👏 @FIDE_chess @ECUonline @alinihatyazici @turkishchess

@ChessMishra Meanwhile Arjun had to do the same till he hit 2750+. Don't wish you the same fate, but others have had it much worse without any reason.

After achieving a 2828 performance at the 2025 FIDE Grand Swiss, I had hoped 2026 would bring more invitations to top-level events. Unfortunately, despite reaching out to several organizers, no opportunities have materialized. As a result, I’ve been competing in open tournaments instead. Over the past 15 days, I played in both the Semana Santa Open and the Menorca Open, winning each with a score of 7.5/9. To tournament organizers: I remain very interested in participating in strong closed events or leagues, and I would greatly appreciate any invitations. Please feel free to get in touch.

You know the funny part? Vishy Anand has won one Candidates and 1 world rapid title after this tweet. Hikaru has won a combined zero world cup, Candidates, World Rapid and Blitz in his career.

@chesseverapp And likewise with the draws spiking after move 30, when draws tend to be allowed to be offered

Looking at the 11.5M games mega database, one pattern jumps out: sudden spikes at move 40 and move 60. Almost certainly related to the time control. Players finally get the increment, calm down, and decide whether to fight on or call it a day. That's why fewer games end on move 39 or 41 than on move 40 and the same for 60 vs 59 or 61.

@pawnalyze Not low quality, but is it low complexity? 😉

The moderators of /r/chess have banned me for this "Low-Quality submission". A user in the comments asked me for information about how it works, and I shared a link to the free complexity calculator (see the reply to this post). Do you think I should have been banned for this?

@promotedpawns Thank you for showing both ratings and the rank. It's easy to get absorbed in ratings while losing the historical contexts. Both runs are extraordinary, but one run is still ongoing...

@daniellenoctrne @Chessentials_ I could believe that were it not for the fact that his bullet and even ultrabullet are similar/better than his blitz. if his trouble was time, he would do much better in blitz than bullet

@Chessentials_ It's a common scenario for many players, myself included. Knowing a rule, a strategy, or a tactic without sufficient practice makes it more difficult to recall them quickly.

Standings with which pairings will be used for classical portion of weissenhaus @chess_freestyle . 1 beat 8, 2 beat 7, 3 beat 6 and only 4 and 5 drew. Meaning that for 3/4 of the first matches, the leaders have already proven they are better than their opponents.
