Luc Winants Memorial took place on 9th of May at the Van Der Valk Hotel Brussels Airport in Belgium. 🏆 The event gathered more than 200 players from 26 federations, crowned Francophonie Rapid Chess Champion 2026, and was organised in tribute to the late Belgian Grandmaster Luc Winants. After nine played rounds, three players tied for the top scoring 7.5/9 points each: GM Marc'Andria Maurizzi 🇫🇷, GM Daniel Fridman 🇩🇪, and GM Alan Pichot 🇪🇸. Having the best tiebreaks, GM Marc'Andria Maurizzi won the event and clinched the title of 2026 Francophone Rapid Chess Champion.
