The Hebrews were a part of the region among few other cultures . Canaan was never a state. Ancient Israel became the dominant culture within its territory. Modern Israel started with buying back the land and developing it. Arab influx started after the collapse of Ottomans in search of jobs. Establishment of Muslim Brotherhood (1926) started violence against Jews.
