In the light of #Easter, let us allow ourselves to be amazed by Christ! Let us allow our hearts to be transformed by his immense love for us! Let those who have weapons lay them down! Let those who have the power to unleash wars choose peace! Not a peace imposed by force, but through dialogue! Not with the desire to dominate others, but to encounter them!

Petitioners Morris Park Community Association and Gina Caliendo effectively withdrew their lawsuit against Just Home today, but it's most likely they'll refile at a later date when the project is finalized. City lawyers had pointed out that their challenge was "not ripe."

Reports from #Iran and across the entire #MiddleEast continue to cause deep dismay and raise the fear that the conflict will expand, and that other countries in the region, including dear Lebanon, may once again sink into instability. Let us #PrayTogether for the roar of bombs to cease, weapons to fall silent, and space to open for dialogue, in which people's voices may be heard.

@Tehraan12 Hundreds of Pakistani protesters, mainly Shiite demonstrators, gathered outside the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi and stormed parts of the perimeter, breaking windows and trying to push into the compound.

An Iranian man left this comment on my YouTube channel. This is without a doubt the single best explanation of the reality facing Iranian people today👇 "As an Iranian, I can tell you the situation is no longer just political—it's existential. We are trapped between two collapsing structures: one internal, one external. On one hand, we face a deeply dysfunctional government, led by the Supreme Leader and the Islamic Republic’s unelected institutions. Decades of economic mismanagement, suppression of dissent, and brutal ideological control have alienated multiple generations. No one believes in reform anymore—because every attempt has either been co-opted or crushed. But here's the paradox: We are also terrified of regime collapse—because we've watched the aftermath of Western intervention in countries like Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan. Each was promised freedom; each descended into chaos, civil war, or foreign occupation. So no, we don't trust the U.S. or Israel. Not because we support our regime—but because we know how imperial powers treat ‘liberated’ nations in the Middle East. Freedom, in their language, often means vacuum, fire, and permanent instability. Right now, many Iranians live with three truths at once: The Islamic Republic is morally and politically bankrupt. The alternatives offered by foreign actors are not liberation—they’re collapse. A bad government is survivable. No government is not. We are not silent because we agree. We are cautious because we’ve learned—too well—what happens when superpowers decide to "help." In a sentence: Iran is a nation held hostage by its own regime, but haunted by the fate of its neighbors. We are stuck in a house we hate, surrounded by fires we fear more."

Mamdani is now signing an executive order that’s a “sweeping reaffirmation” that bars ICE from entering NYC property without a judicial warrant — including schools, shelters, hospitals, and jails. This upholds the city’s existing sanctuary laws.

I have personally known @zachiscol for nearly 30 years and his departure represents a real loss for NYC. Since our time in college, Zach has spent his life in service of others - not only as a @USMC officer who led with courage wherever he was deployed, but also as a co-founder of @headstrong and then as a public servant who brought discipline, clarity and seriousness to some of the City’s most demanding challenges. Zach carried a deep sense of responsibility for the people he served and never treated leadership lightly. My heart aches as NYC is now losing a capable, principled leader who is the EXACT archetype of an individual we WANT in our Government - not the type who should be leaving it. I wish Zach nothing but continued success and thank you, my friend, for looking after NYC these past few years as you ran @nycemergencymgt. 🙏💜

🚨NEWS: Sources tell me that @nycemergencymgt Commissioner @zachiscol has handed in his resignation to city hall and told senior staff members that February 11th will be his last day. @PIX11News

The deadly ICE incidents we’ve seen have nothing to do with enforcement or public safety, but have everything to do with violence and lawlessness. There must be immediate accountability.

@DHSgov Here is a clear video of your agent murdering a defenseless Alex Pretti in Minneapolis today. How long do you think you will get away with trying to convince people they aren't seeing what they're seeing?

The world has never truly made accountable any war criminal in post WWll that lent itself to advancing the agenda of capital. So they will continue to consolídate power and line their pockets.

Chile no eligió a Kast por olvido, sino por ausencia de relato. A Pinochet no lo echaron. A Franco tampoco. Cuando una dictadura no se cuenta con verdad, vuelve disfrazada de opinión. Primero como matiz histórico. Luego como libertad de expresión. Y al final como voto.

CM Carmen De La Rosa is hosting a women in labor reception this afternoon. It was going to double as a speaker reception, but she’s dropped out and backed Crystal Hudson. Still some speaker tea leaves to read here though. Hudson, Speaker Adrienne Adams, Shirley Aldebol all here

@Taniel I live in this district and I didn't even know anyone was really challenging Marmarato. In Throggs Neck and Country Club there was nothing that made you even think there were Democratic nominees. It's sad because there are plenty of Dems in this area and we are largely ignored.

A tight race in the Bronx so far: The GOP won a council seat for the first time since the 1980s there two years ago, and Democrats are trying to win it back. Right now: Dem Shirley Aldebol is up on GOP incumbent Kristy Marmorato 49.6% to 48.4%
