But I was too sick to keep fighting. I had eaten a poisoned mouse and it made me feel very sick. I closed my eyes for the last time and went somewhere else. Please, all I ask is to never use poison to kill mice. Poison kills owls like me. Stop using rat poison. Use the traps, catch them and free them. A single share is enough to spread the word." This was our response to their response, which is on our Facebook page: Woman's Weekly Dear Geoff, Thank you for taking the time to respond to our concerns regarding the feature on puppy breeding. While your response is appreciated, the issue remains deeply alarming—not just to ourselves but to many others within the rescue and animal welfare community. We are, however, pleased to hear that you will be taking steps to address this and issuing an apology in the magazine. The rescue industry is under immense strain, struggling every minute of every day to manage the overwhelming numbers of unwanted and abandoned dogs. As you’ve rightly acknowledged, breeding is not something to be encouraged. It has devastating consequences—not only for rescue organisations trying to cope with the fallout but for the dogs themselves, who often face significant risks during the process, including the need for C-sections and the high expenses associated with complications. We would like to extend an invitation to you to visit our sanctuary or any other Rescue at that and see firsthand the incredible efforts our team makes daily to support dogs. It would give you a deeper insight into the challenges we face. We hope this will help underline why this article was indeed a serious error in judgment.
