@RossBarkan I was in high school at the time and there was a kid that wore a suit to school and a MAGA hat and would defend/promote Trump in class. After the election our teacher asked for his thoughts The kid had a blank look on his face and said he never thought Trump would actually win

Something the Gen Alpha generation will never understand is how absolutely insane it was for Donald Trump to end up president at all. He'll be viewed retroactively now - *of course* he loomed over the 2010s and 2020s - but that original perspective, one day, will be lost to time

@bennetthaselton @RealDianeYap Is the discussion about how to punish disabled accident victims? Have they done something so heinous that the state (and a jury) has decided to deprive them of their liberty? You’re comparing apples to oranges. Of course the same logic doesn’t apply

@RealDianeYap There are no material benefits to society of keeping some disabled accident victims alive, do you apply the same logic? Or does life have value?

When considering life in prison vs execution, the question is "What material benefit is there to society in keeping this person alive, and does that outweigh the cost of keeping them in prison?" If we can't justify a taxpayer burden of ~$60k/year, execution is the answer.

@MayesMick9455 @zone6nova I don’t understand what’s so unbelievable about what you’re saying. I order black coffee from drive thrus fairly often and I’ve run into this. Usually it just causes a delay but a couple of times I’ve encountered people that just can’t understand “no cream or sugar” so I gave up

@zone6nova In a costumer service position it would behoove you to speak the same language that is spoke in your environment. It shouldn’t take 15 to order a burger because you don’t understand what no pickles means.

All these fast food restaurants closing down locations because they lost the plot. A combo meal from a fast food restaurant was never meant to be more than $7. Once they started creeping up towards $10 for a combo, they entered fast casual territory which is Chili's/Applebee's.

@TheIllegit The “Texas man” in this post is Tommy Lee Walker, who confessed to raping & murdering Venice Parker in 1953. He’d later recant this confession & provide an alibi for the night in question: he was in the hospital with his PREGNANT 13-YEAR-OLD GIRLFRIEND. (She denied he was there.)

@RickAddante @romanhelmetguy Facing adversity has always been viewed as a good mark on a resume Teddy Roosevelt had to pretend he was a cowboy and not a Harvard educated prince from Manhattan But I don’t think resentment of successful parents has ever been part of it. That is certainly a weird development

This follows 3 decades of the College essay and admission essays that generations were bred on to get scholarships: tell us about what adversity you've faced and how it informs how you will add to the diversity of our campus. They are just doing the same thing. Because its all they know.

@The_Sourkraut did a standup showcase with a "mentor" and everybody acted like he was a control freak changing their scripts to be unrecognizable. I met with him and he was just making suggestions and asking questions about the script I had answers for. and most of his suggestions made sense!

for the autist who struggles with eye contact, be nietzchean about it. make eye contact like holding your hand over a stove. control the pain. assert your dominance. redirect the discomfort. one of us is going to struggle to make eye contact and its not going to be me.

@PingableUser Body positivity seemed originally aimed at those people but then got stretched to include legitimately obese people that shouldn’t be treated cruelly but need to understand that their lifestyle is unhealthy

@lexercise_ there's definitely a limit (assuming we mean fat). it's hard to be positive when health concerns or compromises start to surface HOWEVER i've also seen pear-shaped bodies been unironically called obese just because their thighs touch while standing. there's evil on both sides

@FunPoliceCo You may not see it that way, but people have characterized it that way. As with any movement, there are irrational radicals that take it in a weird direction and they have to be contended with

@lexercise_ Every claim is a misrepresentation. No one’s ever said body positivity is about being healthy. It’s trying to combat cruelty because so many people associate health and beauty with moral character.

@bestfoodalex @johnnydtweets @ajlamesa What’s wrong with society is the people killing eachother. Obviously prevention is ideal but what are we supposed to do once it’s done? Give the murderer therapy? A job? Some money?

Arresting criminals and throwing them in jail - at scale - indicates something is wrong societally. It’s reactionary. The perspective of the left is about (1) addressing what causes crime to PREVENT it, and (2) reforming the system so that it actually works to rehabilitate. I don’t understand how people still think simply reacting to crime is better than preventing it.

I love Chicago -- I like it more than New York, actually -- but this kind of extreme violence is not normal for a major city in a rich country. It's problematic that many Americans (especially my fellow center-left voters) refuse to acknowledge reality. "The gunfire also struck a nearby vehicle belonging to another motorist, though that person was not injured. Other drivers in the area were involved in a crash as a result of the shooting, according to a CPD report, but no injuries were reported there."
CWBChicago@CWBChicago

Two gunmen got out of a vehicle and opened fire on a driver in River North late Friday night, shooting him three times before he sped away to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. No arrests. cwbchicago.com/2026/03/2-gunm…
