Offering amnesty to anyone here illegally abandons both objectives.
Federal immigration policy should be focused on how to deport more illegal aliens, not keep more of them here.

Like most cases that go before our Supreme Court nowadays, the fundamental legal question at hand was largely ignored during the entire oral argument. They focused so much on the question of what makes someone 'legally domiciled' in America and brushed aside the overarching question of whether "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" applies to unlawful foreign aliens on American soil-- which it does not.
