@jdmortenson I loved that book and also, there are a million books that I never finished. Don’t force yourself to read something you don’t like. (I stopped reading one hundred years of solitude yesterday. It’s possible I even threw it across the couch and said: I hate this fucking book.)

I’m close to giving up on The Goldfinch. 10% of the way in and she’s *still* inching through a painstaking narrative of the bad thing that apparently shapes the rest of the book. It’s beautifully done but relentless and finally too much. Should I persist?
