@MVallence90 @StKvsEverybody This is spot on. I’ve watched him closely at all the games I’ve been to. Couldn’t hide him in the midfield. Disposal and decision making sub par. Garcia Hall Wilson Pou all moved past him as mids in 11 games. And that’s saying something saying Pou is ahead of him as a mid.
English

@StKvsEverybody For a top 10 selection and the pay packet, you want a player with an a-grade ceiling...this isn't Flanders on exposed form. Garcia and Hall will lap him fast it seems. His kicking is the opposite of effective, hospital balls mostly.
English

Some of the comments from Saints fans re Flanders is shocking.
You’ve fed into clickbait. Bloke was one of our best last night and has had a good season. He’s also 24 and has a heap of footy left.
And for the pick #7 crowd, let me know how Latrelle Pickett fairs tomorrow 😉
English

@StKvsEverybody Comparing him with a Max Hall similar age who’s had half the games, yet makes clean decisions and has more fierceness in the contest. Flanders criticism is fair. He was given keys to the number 1 lock in the midfield and after 8 games he’s at half back.
English

@lethalfooty Watched Hastie’s last few games- he’s been very careful re his decision making and disposal. Not a heap of flow in his game. Almost like he’s trying to not make an error rather than having flow and connection with those up the field. They must have their reasons not picking him.
English

Not the first time that Ross has stated that the ball movement from D50 was the pivotal factor in the game.
Yet he refuses to select Hastie, who has been consistently our best at VFL level this year.
LOC, Byrnes, Stocker all selected ahead of him…?

@DaveKelland @Bitey_26 2/2
The ones 3-7 that are consistently very good against good teams are Hall, Naz, Wilkie, Sincs, Higgins, and I’m close to putting Wilson in there and Garcia next in line..
The next rung probably are 25-33% good games and good teams, then it basically drops off the cliff.
English

Little question for Saints fans.. who were our bottom 6 players tonight.. as @Bitey_26 says.. our biggest improvement will be when we shrink the gap of our bottom 6 compared to our opponents..
I’m going
Hammer
Byrnes
Doogs
Stocker
Macrae
Garcia?- unusual - mulligan
Marshall?
English

@DaveKelland @Bitey_26 1/2
To be honest the way I see it is there are 12-14 that are below standard or poor against good teams virtually all the time, there’s 4-6 that are solid but pass marks against good teams, and the remaining 3-7 that are consistently fantastic against good teams.
English

@neil_saints Sometimes you wonder whether these guys train together.. Admittedly very makeshift lineup last night, but at times looked better last night than with the 4 normal fwds in there.
English

@archerroberts9 Think TDK is better than Marshall, and Flanders will get better.. But I do hope we get more from them next year. SOS the standout recruit so far, but is also one that is injury prone. Marshall has done well with his career but best footy is as solo ruck. Let him get to Cats!
English

Frustratingly, just not good enough. Missing players kills our structure & game-plan. Bottom 6-8 get exposed badly.
Recruits of TDK & Flanders have been failures so far - to be honest ❌ And more fucking injuries.
Positives - Hall & Banfield ⭐️

English

@archerroberts9 Agree.. the 6-8 are biding time for the youth to develop or top up with better role players over next 2-3 yrs. Keeps us in the wildcard window now vs not getting any potential finals experience. Need Hastie, Tauru, TT, Barrat, Boxshall really start banging the door down.
English

@timrosen35 @JustinDimieri Hall is a genuine A grader right now.. The guy oozes class and impact. Comfortably top 30 AFL player.
English

@JustinDimieri Harsh on Max Hall haha but yep I love the look of Charlie
English

@tdunny73 @StKFootball Tim, he’s still young, but hoping he will have a good run at it. Not the star we hoped for, but maybe could develop into a Rayner type, important impact player when we’re genuine contenders in a few years.
English

@StKFootball Needs 20 to 30 games of continuous footy w8thout injury to build fitness, confidence and find his niche in the team.
English

@StKFootball I’m in the doubtful basket on Mattaeus. He’s losing a lot of key contests, and often looking like a dog chasing his tail. Prob needs a settled team and runners around him to cover for his leg speed deficit and missed tackles. Maybe in two yrs. I’m not seeing it yet though.
English

@SaintsDiscoPod @StKFootball No need for that unwarranted aggression. It’s an opinion thread. We know where they are at. They’re building, and not quite up to the sustained pressure of top teams. Fumbles, decisions, structure, inexperience vs past their best players. It all adds up to what we see. 9th-12th.
English

@StKFootball Also, zero grit? Wtf are you talking about? They gutsed it out as long as they fucking could. Sometimes that gets you a 5 goal loss against a superior opponent. Again, be reasonable.
English

@StKFootball St K is Fremantle 3-5 years ago. Player percentage of current players, that won’t be in a St premiership: I counted 10/23 including injured players Corca 44% of current best 23, and that’s including a few maligned types.
English

@StKFootball Wouldn’t be hard on yourself. You’re seeing what we all see.
Still have a good 10-12 players to transition out over the next two years. It’s not even worth naming them. Every Saints fan who watches games knows.
English

@StKFootball Yes, one team a bit cleaner under pressure. Maybe if we can get some CSB dominance, a chance in last.
I know he’s not getting the best delivery, but Sharman needs to compete better- there’s a guy down the other end setting the example. Treacy
English

@StKFootball Geez, we’ve got some stars, but still carry way too many players that anybody can see are just marking time
English

Very insightful video
Harves telling Row to handball from ruck contests instead of dump kicking😍
Touches on TDK's off-field impact coming from the best stoppage team in the competition
Lots of nuggets

Picked up Chris Hemley from the Geelong Falcons, who was interviewed on Channel 10 on 2009 Grand Final Day attending the game as a Cats supporter.

Came across this in our clippings. Some fine players came out of the 1994 draft - and three are now AFL coaches. Fancy the great Bulldog Doug Hawkins becoming a Lion with pick 83.
