@Woodywudpeck @sionster @TheSecretAcct If u have non-ISA shares paid out cash dividend, u gets a tax-free Dividend Allowance of £500. Any dividends over £500 are taxed at 10.75% for basic-rate earners. If u sold shares outside an ISA this year at a loss, they can be deducted from £10k profit to reduce the tax bill

For individuals I think the ISA allowance and SIPP are sufficient tax free wrappers. If you can invest more than £68k a year (£20k ISA and £48k net SIPP contribution) you can afford income tax on gains after indexation allowance (taking inflation into account). For owner managers there should be a £1m lifetime allowance with income tax on the excess gain but with indexation allowance. Therefore husband and wife get £2m. Property and other assets - income tax after indexation allowance. Main residence no tax. Those are my thoughts. What do you think?

@Gasman2O Most turbines are offshore and wind speeds over the ocean are stronger, more consistent, and lack the physical obstacles (trees, buildings, hills) that create drag on land. Offshore wind speeds can be more than double the average onshore speed

UK electricity generation has fallen 25% from its peak in 2004. Per capita electricity consumption is a third the level of the United States. The UK has the most costly electricity in the world. Half the gas we consume comes from the Norwegian side of the North Sea basin. The residual imported LNG has 4x the carbon footprint of supplying our own. And most depressingly of all the result is a deteriorating UK Balance of Payments, a weaker pound, and a bigger hit to the cost of living. And still the useful idiots want to further constrain UK energy production through high taxes, banning new licences, and gold-plating new energy infrastructure. Their luxury beliefs are behind the awful household disposable income growth of recent years. 🤡.
