Seven Laptops Stolen in Security Breach at Bank of Uganda Headquarters @BOU_Official has confirmed a security breach at its headquarters in Kampala, where seven laptop computers were stolen in an overnight incident. In a public notice issued on Monday, May 4, 2026, the central bank revealed that an unlawful entry was detected early in the morning at its head office located along Kampala Road, near City Square. According to the statement, the break-in is believed to have occurred during the night, resulting in the theft of the devices. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The Bank of Uganda said it is working closely with relevant security agencies to determine how the breach occurred and to identify those responsible. Officials emphasized that appropriate action will be taken once the circumstances surrounding the incident are fully established. Despite the breach, the central bank reassured the public that its core operations remain unaffected. “Our services are fully functional and have not been disrupted by this incident,” the statement noted. The bank has pledged to provide further updates as more information becomes available and called for patience and continued trust from the public as investigations continue.
