I’m at the Pima County jail, where wait times for officers can stretch past two hours just to book a single suspect because the facility is under-resourced. In one case, a man had a warrant out of Benson, but Benson would not pick him up because they are also understaffed. So after police spent hours making the arrest, transporting him, and completing the paperwork, the man will later be released anyway because of staffing shortages.
