Today at Nakasero, I met Mr. Aliko Dangote and we discussed the proposed East African regional refinery.
I informed him that from the very beginning, we have always opposed the export of raw materials without value addition. That is why Uganda delayed oil production because we insisted on first having a refinery. Without refining our oil, it would not make economic or strategic sense to simply export crude oil while others benefit from the finished products.
I, therefore, welcomed the idea of a bigger regional refinery because our objective is African integration and shared prosperity. We cannot continue operating as fragmented and weak markets. If East Africa works together, such projects become more viable and beneficial to our people.
Uganda is ready to support the regional refinery initiative while also continuing with the development of our own refinery in Hoima.

I agree with @briantukaa, this is how athletes lose out at times! So, a player of importance sits out for persoanal enjoyment, team beaten, and management takes which decision at the end?

JUST IN: The Anti-Corruption Court has convicted former State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Agnes Nandutu, over the diversion of 2,000 iron sheets meant for vulnerable communities in the Karamoja sub-region. Court found that Nandutu knowingly received and retained government property that was not lawfully allocated to her and which she had reason to believe had been irregularly diverted from a public programme intended for vulnerable beneficiaries. Her bail has been cancelled as she's remanded to Luzira Prison until Friday this week for sentencing, Juliet Kigongo reports.

Ziggy Dee (born Adam Mutyaba Mukiibi) rose to fame in the early 2000s with his breakout hit Eno Mic, a song that became a regional anthem across East Africa. Recorded while he was living in Dar es Salaam, the track blended Luganda ragga with Bongo Flava influences, giving it cross-border appeal. However, the massive success of Eno Mic proved difficult to replicate. Despite collaborations with Bobi Wine and songs like Sunda, Ziggy Dee struggled to produce another hit of similar magnitude, often facing pressure from promoters who only wanted to hear his famous “mic” song.

A Ugandan government aircraft used for VIP travel has landed in the United States, with no official explanation for the trip.
The aircraft, registered as 5X-UGF, is a Gulfstream G550 operated by the Government of Uganda and used for official state travel, including the transport of President @KagutaMuseveni.
Flight tracking data from @flightaware (RAU2) : flightaware.com/live/flight/RA… indicates the aircraft transited through Cape Verde before arriving in Savannah, Georgia where it has remained on the ground for over 23 hours as of this publication.
Ugandan authorities have not publicly stated the purpose of the visit.
Presidential jets are not routine transport. Their use is comparable in significance to Air Force One in the United States, generally associated with the movement of the head of state or matters of national security. Long-distance deployments of such aircraft typically signal travel of sensitivity or high security levels.
The lack of official information has fueled public interest and online discussion about the timing of the aircraft’s arrival in the United States, including unverified claims about the health of First Lady @JanetMuseveni.
The purpose of the aircraft’s presence in the United States remains unclear.

His highness J Kazoora, please and please, no one is disputing your place in the history of Ugandan entertainment media. Many of us actually grew up watching Jam Agenda and acknowledging that influence is not difficult. If anything, that legacy is precisely why your views still attract some small attention today.
The point of disagreement has never been about whether you contributed to the industry. You did, and many of us were genuine fans during that period. Your role in shaping a generation of entertainment television is part of the record and has remained intact👌👌
Where the disagreement started was when you began to undermine the work of creators operating in this current media environment. The industry has evolved significantly my guy….digital platforms, social media distribution, and new formats have changed how content is produced and consumed. That evolution naturally produces a different generation of creators and approaches.
Pointing out that reality is not an attempt to erase your past contributions; it is simply recognizing that the landscape has moved forward and some veterans have had to adjust to it.
Ironically, your own recent decision to move toward podcasting suggests exactly that shift. Podcasting is one of the formats defining the current content ecosystem. In that sense, you are stepping into the same space many in this generation have already been operating in. There is nothing wrong with that at all….if anything, it is welcome. New voices and experienced ones can coexist, and hopefully your venture succeeds.
However, the real issue was never generational disagreement. Debate about media and content is normal. The line was crossed when the exchange moved from critique into personal territory…threats to beat me and sectarian slurs directed at me and my family.
At that point, it stopped being a discussion about content or generations in media. My responses came from that moment, not from any desire to diminish the work you did decades ago. One can respect a legacy and still object when the conversation moves into intimidation and personal attacks.

“25 years ago, I was on Jam Agenda; I was number one. I held a generation…” — JK Kazoora responds to Frank Ntambi’s remarks that he is likely out of touch with the current generation of content creators.

I asked for a debate of ideas, not a resume recital Mr Kazolo. Yet somehow you rushed to parade what you’ve done, what you own, and even dragged in what our parents probably do for a living…as if any of that magically substitutes for an argument. It doesn’t. All it reveals is a man who confuses noise with substance and status with intellect.
That’s not debate, Kazolo. That’s insecurity trying very hard to look like relevance.
A real discussion stands on reasoning, not on chest-thumping and family references. When someone abandons ideas and reaches for those crutches, it usually means they’ve already lost the argument and are just hoping the distraction goes unnoticed.
So if you’re ready for a serious exchange of ideas, I’m here as I asked yesterday.
But if what you’re really looking for is an insult contest, I’d advise against it…for both our sakes. Some roads escalate quickly, and they rarely end in a place worth visiting.
Let’s keep it where intelligent people keep it: on ideas, not ego Kazolo.
