This is the first ever 100 meters for seventh grader Layla Riley, who’s also a soccer and tennis player at Harvard-Westlake. 13.05. Sherri Howard, one of the Howard sisters, has trained her for years. The future is bright.

@danielrpopper Can Hortiz actually execute a timely trade is my question. So far he’s sh*t the bed every time he needs to be decisive and expedient

It took some time, but don’t let the haters distract you from the fact that the Angels have developed Jose Soriano from the ground up. Shits gonna get awkward when Detmers proves he’s the truth too.

"I started wondering did somebody with the Angels not do their homework?" Gary DiSarcina questions if the Angels did enough research into Anthony Rendon after he gained some insight from his time with the Nationals.

It is simple: If the Texans will have a better season or if Herbert will be hit like before, I want Hortiz fired. Texans OL FA additions: OT Braden Smith OG Evan Brown OG Wyatt Teller Resigned: OG Ed Ingram Chargers: OG Cole Strange OG Spencer Burford Resigned: OG Trevor Penning

@alexinsdorf99 Its not reasonable to expect the line to hold up vs playoff caliber defenses without both Alt and Skater.

I mean it really comes down to this for me: can McDaniel start Strange + a draft pick at RG/LG and have it go well? Sure, I don't necessarily doubt that if you get 17 games of Alt/Slater/Biadasz. But: 1. Alt/Slater performances and availability are realistically question marks off of brutal season-ending injuries 2. We saw the floor fall out last season because of the IOL despite average tackle backups when Salyer/Pipkins were healthy 3. I don't think the guards the fanbase was clamoring for were expensive or unreasonable I trust Mike McDaniel... and also have watched the last two Hortiz/Harbaugh Chargers seasons
Thunder Down Under Chargers Podcast@TDU_Chargers

Understand some of the angst here. Here’s the question though: Did you love the McDaniel hire? If the answer is YES, why do you not trust the guys McDaniel is clearly hand-picking for his system (unless you seriously believe Hortiz/Spanos are not spending $ on guys he wants even more). If McDaniel wants these specific pieces, it’s probably reasonable to assume he knows more than you do (and we do) about the best thing for his scheme and keeping Justin upright 🤷🏻‍♂️

@HananDery They picked up a RB and DL just like you wanted. They know they need a G or two.

@ChrisPepper616 I think that going for one more guard (say Jenkins or Seumalo) is a safer bet than getting a 4th round pick. I am not saying Hortiz should be fired, but we have seen our QB getting hit in a record level, and the IOL is a perennial issue.

Compensatory picks for Hortiz are like acorns for Scrat (the squirrel from Ice Age). This obsession can mask his judgement. For example, it is less relevant that Hand played better than Tomlinson last year... Hortiz thought process behind signing Tomlinson and not Hand is the confluence of these 2 factors. 1. Dalvin Tomlinson was a very good DT before 2025, and signing him won't affect the comp pick math because he was cut. In addition, the Chargers have enough cap space. Thus, even after paying Tomlinson $7.5M, there would still be roughly $50M in cap space. 2. So why not signing Da'Shawn Hand as well? If the new contracts of Hand & Salyer in ATL and MIA will qualify ($3M per year is the verge of qualification), he may not only get a 3rd round comp pick for loosing Oweh, but also a comp pick for loosing Zion (4th or 5th). The reason is that loosing St Juste, Salyer & Hand may be able to offset the contracts he extended to Strange and Kolar. The good news is that the disease has its flare-up until the draft. Once the draft is over, it's a new game and GMs can sign whoever FAs are on the market without worrying for the comp picks math. All in all, my guess is that given the severity of his condition, Hortiz will only sign players of these types before April 15: A. FAs that played for the Chargers last season (UNC, Fisk, Lance). B. FAs that were cut by other teams before the end of their contracts, like Biadasz, InGold, or Tomlinson. C. Restricted free agent who were not tendered by their teams like he did with RB Mitchell. D. Players via trades. E. Qualified players for contracts smaller than $2M (not affecting the comp pick formula).

The #Falcons have agreed to terms with DL Da’Shawn Hand on a one-year, $3 million deal, per The Insiders. The eight-year veteran heads to Atlanta on a deal negotiated by his agent Sean Kiernan of @AthletesFirst.

Pitching At Bat of the Week - Greg Weissert closes it out for Italy in the #WBC 😳 How did he attack him? How did he try to play each pitch off the last one? A lot of players and young kids only see the highlights and don’t see what happens in a whole at bat! Every week we’ll be posting full at bats from the hitting and pitching side!

Being a content creator isn't for the faint of heart. While 98% of fan comments and interactions are positive, learning to ignore the other 2% is a challenge. It's hard for me to ignore unfounded disrespect because people don't see the hours we put in behind the scenes—all the late nights staying up until 2-3 AM, five days a week, while working a full-time day job to create the best content we can. Try leading with kindness. Have a great day, everyone.

@HananDery Except they had a SB caliber defense without one last year. Thibideauex replaces Oweh. Draft another Caldwell type player and they’re loaded for the season after signing Mack. Not hard.

I'll take the Sleepy Joe case Pro bono. There's a dire need in this roster for studs at DL, OG, and Edge. Don't go to the draft with all three needs, and don't shop them at the dollar store. The roster is missing RB2, TE3, and SAF3. Trade DD for a pick swap or late day 3. If adding to the ILB, CB, or WR rooms, it must be for an alpha. That is, via a trade for a stud. These rooms are filled with ok players. No need for more of the same.

@HananDery The team is built for Herbert to be the difference. Shoot last year he had to be average with the defense and he choked it. RB2 and TE3. Please stop with the nonsense. Yes, they need a guard and an edge. They found Oweh on a scrap heap. And my guess is they’ll draft a guard.

My friend, I want a SB. Not another WC. 1. I like Vidal as RB3. He didn't deliver in the WC. 2. The IDL players of all of teams that won SB in recent years were great. To me: Tart, Caldwell and Eboigbe are IDL2-4. 3. Fisk is not signed yet. 4. I said WR, ILB or CB only if we are talking about WR1, ILB1, or CB1. Otherwise, we can live without.

The biggest lie hitters believe: “Confidence comes from getting hits.” It doesn’t. If your confidence comes from results, you’ll live on a rollercoaster. Hit → confidence Out → panic The best hitters build confidence from preparation and process, not outcomes.

Hitting Coaches: Been working on this for a while now with different LLM/AI models. It's not complete and definitely a work in progress so be kind. But for any hitting coaches out there, I wanted to share it. It's a framework that synthesizes the work of @TonyAbbatine @SlowTheGameDown @VflexSports @DrFadde into one system for training hitter vision and pitch recognition. If you can improve on it, please do. That's the whole point. drive.google.com/file/d/1DQdIBU…

@BB_Chargers @danielrpopper I like Popper cause he keeps the conversation going but he’s not a football expert. The Chargers OL got shredded cause Alt went down. Not because of Becton or Bozeman or whatever other excuse is happening.
