The saddest part about BBQ is it used to be poor people food. Used cheap cuts and slow smoked them till tender. Today it is more expensive than a typical steakhouse, charging $36/lb for brisket. Worst thing to happen to BBQ ever is it became popular. Now get off my lawn

@hkaplin @jjcoop36 For elite athletes, do what you think is best. But for kids learning the game, they need to get the basics down first

@jjcoop36 @ChrisRay82 I used to be anti 1KD, but today guys are SO athletic (for the most part) at the pro level, that their ability to maintain elite pop times and transfer times (and tremendous foot work) really makes it a non-issue (IMO)

This is a very geeky video for the catching nuts. If you want to see how catchers frame low pitches and throw from one-knee setups, this Astros C Walker Janek cut-up illustrates both well IMO. Sets the target, takes the mitt down, and then brings it up to catch the ball.

@jjcoop36 Totally agree for high level pros. But I’ve got kids on my 10u team trying catch like that. Ultimately the goal is to deceive the ump. With ABS in MLB, probably no point anymore, right?

@ChrisRay82 Because it is the superior way to catch at the pro level. Catchers get more borderline pitches called strikes and there has not been any increase in PB/WPs. In fact WPs and PBs are at historic lows at a time when every pro catchers uses one knee.

@CJVogel_OTF Sark has such a complex offense. Hopefully he sees that he is going to have to make it simpler with the massive amount of turnover from year to year in college football now. That’s what I’m worried about. Good players but can they learn the offense and learn to play together?

@iJordanMoore He’s trying to make the throw more difficult on the catcher to induce an error, that’s smart especially in a high stakes, close game

Bryce Harper couldn’t stand the dirty play from Caminero here. Gotta be a loser to strike out and then try to run outside the baseline on a drop third strike lol.

@CoachSwit I things will come back down to the stratosphere at some point because hitters are getting pretty dialed with high velocity. And when pictures make a mistake because they’re just focused on throwing hard, it gets killed.

For all the velocity experts out there… So are we saying the pitcher who throws 85 mph, commands the zone, and can land two off-speed pitches for strikes anytime has no chance of playing D1 baseball? Or are we pretending those guys don’t still get outs? Just wondering?

@MatthewCoast I don’t think it is that uncommon that a dad helps with so many of these things, I know I do but the narrative is that only mom does all these things. Dads are pictured as lazy men that don’t do anything which really isn’t fair to dads out there doing good stuff for the family

JUST WONDERING HOW MOMS are supposed to work 9-5, drop the kids off at school at 8 AM, pick them up by 3 PM, stay on top of school activities, meal prep, cook dinner, keep the house clean, do the laundry, run the kids to extracurricular activities, climb the corporate ladder, save sick days for when the kids are sick, be a good friend, daughter, and partner, all while trying to take care of their own body and mental health…

@MrPitbull07 Depends on how you got to $500. If two bottles of wine made up most of that, I think you’re good. But if it was multi-course meal for you and your friends and the place was packed, $100 is probably right. $120 would be if she was great and you guys liked her

We went to a dinner as a group and had a $500 bill. We tipped $40. We were happy we can be able to give our server something, but her reaction was the opposite. She told us she assumed we're going to give her at least $120. When we asked for the manager, she said she was just joking, but she wasn't smiling at all. Idk, but is $40 tip enough for $500 bill? I just feel like expecting $120 is not realistic. ~Lea Robertson

Hot take but LIV is a legitimate pathway for young potential superstars who can get paid to be mentored in their young careers by Tour greats and play a guaranteed schedule. The road to the PGA Tour is increasingly perilous and littered with great talent that never made it.

@HustleBitch_ I get it, is sucks but the bank is paying that money up front on your behalf and some people will default. How much interest should the bank be allowed to charge for that risk?

🚨 SHE JUST DID THE MATH ON HER MORTGAGE - AND IT’S MAKING PEOPLE SICK An American homeowner breaks down her numbers on camera and it hits hard. She bought a $300,000 house with a 30-year mortgage at 5% - the most normal setup imaginable. But the math is brutal. Total paid over time: $864,000. Interest alone: $564,000. That’s money that buys nothing. No house. No upgrades. No equity. Just decades of payments to the bank. She’s up at midnight running the numbers, quietly making micro-payments to try to escape the trap early. So is this homeownership… or a debt prison built on purpose?

Can’t even get excited for future players in bowl games anymore… Not blaming Elijah at all, but this sport is so far removed from what it was even 5 years ago. I’d be a liar if I said the main reason I want to re-up for season tickets is to see the friends made in DKR again.

@HornTakes They’re meeting with top players at positions of need from the portal. Many of those guys are staying at home rather than transferring. Dabo is basically wanting to not go in the portal and only develop HS recruits. I don’t see the comparison and Texas doesn’t have unlimited $$

Horn Take: The fact that Texas has not signed a single big time name at any position out of the transfer portal should be concerning. We are right in the middle of the NIL Wild West and Texas, a program with basically unlimited resources, has taken an approach closer to Dabo Swinney’s at Clemson than what will be required to build a championship roster each and every year. There is still time but if Sark doesn’t evolve his strategy, Texas could get left behind. “Adapt or Die”

@Mark_Sisson I mean, the guidance is great but the problem is EVERYWHERE you look, there is marketing of trash UPF. You go to a restaurant, you have no idea what trash they’re using to make your food. We need some actual restrictions to prevent harmful ingredients

This is big. Back when we all started with this Primal/paleo/real food stuff 20 years ago, did you ever think you'd see these words and phrases and recommendations in the USDA dietary guidelines? "Nutrient-dense" "Healthy fats from whole foods... eggs, seafood, meats, full-fat dairy..." "1.2-1.6 grams per kg" of protein "Colorful" fruits and vegetables "traditionally prepared" grains... "oats, rice, and sourdough preferred" They even cut way back on grains. 2-4 servings of whole grains down from 8-11 in the old guidelines There's no mention of seed/vegetable oils, but the implication is that they should be avoided These are big wins.
